I had read mixed reviews of this. So, I was a bit skeptical going in. But, I am a true Today Show fan and had to read it! I enjoyed it - learned a lot about Katie's life and the ups and downs of her career.

Loved this memoir. I enjoyed how Katie spoke about moments in her career where she got negative press. Turns out she is a human that means well but makes mistakes. Love her even more.

I’m a little too young to remember much of Katie Couric’s days on NBC’s TODAY and then the other networks/shows that followed, but reading this autobiography stirred up a weird kind of nostalgia for the 90s and aughts— all the news she was there to break and all that she wasn’t, often due to misogynistic power structures. Katie Couric is anything but perfect, and I appreciate how she acknowledges many of her missteps. And yes, you’ll read all about her friendship with Matt Lauer. Lastly, I had no idea how much tragedy Katie Couric has endured via the deaths of loved ones, some far too premature. What an accomplished, entertaining, and lived life.

To come

I loved this book. The Katie Couric years were my favorite of my Today show days. I loved how honest she was. I found myself crying more than once. I would recommend this book to anyone who was a fan or even a critic - listen to it! She reads it!

I grew up watching Katie every day because I was a news nerd as a child, and carried some of her advice into my own journalism career.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but it definitely felt too long.

I recommend the audiobook because they used the audio from broadcasts of big moments she writes about.

An absolutely tepid, "meh" for me. In some aspects, I found it refreshing to see Katie Couric as just another working mom. In other aspects, I found her lack of self-awareness and self-centeredness to be quite a turn-off. I'm not sure if I like Katie Couric more or less after listening to her memoir...

I am a little emotional and sentimental about this review, to be honest. Katie Couric feels like a huge part of my life, in a way that I imagine many others can claim as well. We were definitely a Today Show household (in the early days when people were actually up in the mornings to have news on); I wrote essay upon essay for college about how I wanted to be, "the next Katie Couric, before she left the Today Show." I am an active consumer of Katie Couric Media content (I love Wake Up Call so much) and generally just love her vibe. Her memoir was PHENOMENAL - listening to it was a purely enjoyable experience, as she included actual audio files from her experiences. And true to the title, she really did Go There - she is very raw and vulnerable, in an admirable way that doesn't necessarily paint her in the best light but IS honest (she unflinchingly discusses the Matt Lauer of it all, and it is so, so fascinating). She shares so much of herself and her story in such a beautiful way, cementing her position as a favored storyteller. I cried and laughed out loud, and genuinely enjoyed every second. A great experience.
