nightwing is my new obsession
adventurous dark emotional hopeful fast-paced

This comic stunned me as to how amazing it is. Tom Taylor gives us the Nightwing we've been dying to see lately. Full of hope, happy, with a lot of fun and fleshed-out characters. Bruno's art is phenomenal and for his artwork alone I recommend this book. Yet Tom's writing is just as amazing as his other books. He truly understands these characters and he places them in situations that pulls on your heartstrings. Even as I'm typing this I'm still floored by how great this book is. Definitely read this.

This is the perfect start to a new run on Nightwing, elevating the series to a quality worthy of the iconic character of Dick Grayson. This isn’t just the best Bat-Book right now, it’s one of the best superhero comics right now. Hopefully this is the start of a classic run, it has the potential to be.

It’s not overstating things to say that Tom Taylor is one of the very best comics writers. Not just today, but ever. He really brings the heart and humor to superheroes, which he’s done for Spider-Man, Superman, and now Nightwing. All the while making it look effortless.

The art by Bruno Redondo is spectacular. Clear, creative, colorful. The characters practically leap off the page with their vibrancy.

Look how perfect this page is written and drawn. It’s just a simple conversation, but it’s humorous and lovely.

I can attribute my paltry Batman knowledge to my sister (not the fact that my knowledge is paltry but the fact that I have any knowledge at all). She fell in love with the characters of the 1966 TV show and, due to some exploration, fell in love with the comics too. She has become quite the connoisseur.

In an effort to keep up with her, I have striven to educate myself. That endeavor has been fun and led to some surprising discoveries.

Nightwing was one of those surprising discoveries.

My sister had recently finished this comic and, knowing my growing love for Mr. Grayson (based mostly on the “Wayne Family Adventures” webcomic), recommended that I read it. She said I would enjoy it. She was entirely correct. I had no idea that I was about to read a new favorite.

The story is fascinating: a story of Dick Grayson, who has been on his own for a while but is still trying to figure out exactly who he is. Dick Grayson, who happens upon some vital information that changes his life. Dick Grayson ,who gives his heart freely and fights for those he loves, along with those who don’t exactly deserve it.

I quick fell in love with this man. He may be more well known for his “boy wonder” days, but I think his heroism extends to Nightwing as well (and his Nightwing adventures may be a bit more interesting—no offense Bruce). I may not be well versed in his entire life story, but Dick’s story within these pages is inspiring. This comic gives a great introduction to the uninitiated—something I can’t always say of some comics.

Plus, we get some pretty amazing drop-ins.
SpoilerWe get Tim Drake, Barbara Gordon, Bruce Wayne, and Clark Kent, just to name a few.
Mr. Grayson may seem like a broke kid in a run-down flat, but he has connections. Friends in high places, if you will.

We also get some fantastic BatFam moments, which I greatly enjoyed.
SpoilerFor instance, Dick gets his wallet stollen by some punk kids and Babs immediately exposes this man in the BatFam group chat.

If you have any interest in what happened to Dick Grayson after his iconic Robin days . . . . Or you want to explore some of Nightwing’s world. Or if you crave heart-pounding action, jaw-dropping revelations, and cute puppies. Or if you want to see come of the cameos mentioned earlier, then you’ll want to check this one out.
