i want to believe that he wasn't really dying, he was just tired and being very dramatic.

Margaret Rogerson is the kind of author whose books never reach 5 stars for me, but are all easy, fun, and enjoyable reads. As long as she keeps writing, I will definitely pick up her books!

I liked Vespertine a lot and I can tell that Rogerson's style has evolved over the course of writing her books. According to her tumblr, Vespertine is a part of a series. I would definitely read another book set in this world.

One thing about me is that I'll always enjoy a book by Margaret Rogerson. I love her writing style, and the worlds she creates. This one is no different. I love the religion that we get to explore in this book, especially as I find it uncommon in fantasy books. The gothic atmosphere Rogerson weaves is also immaculate.

The highlight of this novel was definitely Artemisia and Revenant's friendship. I love seeing it start from a forced bond that could put Artemisia in danger into a surprisingly close friendship. I love how Revenant forces Artemisia to take care of herself so it'll have a proper vessel as a way to show it cares. And the revenant overall is very fascinating. It's a shame that Rogerson is so good at writing a solid fantasy standalone, because I would love to read multiple books set in this world. Highly recommend!

A fun time. I liked learning about the different revenants and undead. Oddly enough, I felt like I was in the Cathedral of the Deep, even though the tones of this book and Dark Souls are incredibly different.

I didn't enjoy the writing style too much. It wasn't terrible, but it was very straightforward. I also thought that the writing should've felt more serious due to the topics covered in this book.

ALSO, this book did my least favorite thing; it ended with a vague mention of a second book. As far as I know, this is a standalone book. It would be really awesome if the next story is Artemisia when she's older and she meets Leander again. Hm.
