I am so obsessed when each of the Belles books release to see how they would need to tame these men that have no regard for commitment! My heart aches along with Aisling at every hit Sam delivers, and that just shows how well this book is written! I tried to drag it over as long as I could so it wouldn’t end! Amazing read! Well done!
LJ's books are one of the first romance books I read. As I got more into my reading journey, I did stay loyal but felt like I was outgrowing her books and writing style.
The Monster brought me right back to enjoying her. I personally feel like she has a talent for writing more gritty, morally challenged characters compared to other types. Sam Brennan did not disappoint.
He was everything a morally gray character should be.
I read several reviews stating that Aisling was a doormat, and I never once got that vibe. I read a girl who was obsessed with a man since she was 17 years old and that obsession never left. When the book jumps to the present time, she is 27 years old. A grown woman. She was never once a doormat for Sam, and really had no issues putting him in his place. Both her and Sam were relatively complex.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I hope that LJ continues to write books more like this than her normal "billionaire in a suit who is just a jerk for 2.5" story.

I was anticipating this book soo much, and let me tell you.. it did not disappoint!
Was it perfect? Eh, I guess not entirely. There were a couple particular lines that kinda rubbed me the wrong way and were never addressed later on, that is honestly the only reason why I can't really give this book the full 5 stars. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adored the dynamic of the characters and their darkness and how they found each other in it. That's why I'm not particularly harsh at those instances I didn't like, because well.. they're so messed up in so many other ways and I guess as long as it works for them you know?
(Also I think maybe just far too much of what i've been reading lately has been mafia romance and I was kinda too sick of it at this point, so really the fact that I gave this anything above 2 stars shows how much i loved the characters and the author's writing in general lmao)
End of rant.

3.5 stars
Just like everyone else, I was insanely excited to finally get Sam’s story and I was not disappointed! Aisling and Sam’s story was so addictive and had so many swoon-worthy moments that I couldn’t put it down.
It was great to see Aisling and Sam’s relationship develop throughout this book, as we saw the characters mature as their relationship progressed. Although Aisling’s behaviour did make me cringe a few times, this definitely got better as the book went on and she began to stand up for herself. I was however slightly disappointed by the fact that there really weren’t many scenes of Sailor, Persy, Aisling and Belle together, their friendship is one of my favourite parts of this series so I definitely wish there was more friendship content, especially considering the series is named after the girls’ friendship group.
Overall, this was an enjoyable romance which had me swooning throughout. Definitely my favourite Boston Belles book so far!

i still like them tho :P
edit: reducing one star cause the more i reflect about this the less i like and realize how much of a disappointment this was, truly a wasted potential.

This one is good and frustrating at the same time.
Frustrating because Aisling is treated like absolute sh*t by everyone and she knows it, and it's taken her far too damn long to do anything about it. Literally no one in this book except the other Belles deserve her love or care, and even Sam barely earns it in the end. She is, however, secretly badass in her professional life and you spend the book waiting for her to bring that grit and steel into her personal life. I wish she'd yelled at people more. I wish she'd slapped some people because so many of them deserved it, especially her mother and her brothers. It's hard because you learn to love Kill and Hunter for who they are in their own stories, but you will be disappointed in them in this one. However, it allows Aisling to have probably the best character arc of all the Fitzpatricks.
Anything I say about Sam Brennan will be a spoiler, but let's just say he's lacking in emotional intelligence due to significant trauma and gets a crash course in feelings, even though it takes him a god damn decade. This is a man who thinks he knows himself, but instead he's been in denial about a lot of things for a long time. He needed more slaps than anybody. But he also comes around, and sees the world differently, even things he thought he already knew. You can't help but feel soft by the end.
But seriously almost everyone in this book is a total twat except Aisling, and she's too nice to acknowledge and confront their faults and failings until it almost breaks her.
There's part of the plot that bothered me, and it's that we hear one of the biggest reveals entirely third-hand. Aisling does something and we never hear about it from her, never see the actions she took that had a massive impact, and never really get to see her process it either. We hear someone else telling Sam about what she said and did, and Sam's reaction...but the two of them never even talk about it. The whole thing is a really big deal throughout the book and then it ends like a drip of water.
These two are rough and down and dirty, and the spicy scenes and even just the kisses will steam up your pages. Everyone underestimates Aisling in every way, I advise y'all not to do the same.

I was so disappointed. I normally love Shen's books or at the very least enjoy them - but not this one and it makes me so sad. I really wanted to like this, truly!!! But nope this was not it for me, unfortunately :(
