I liked this better than the first one. Don't get me wrong, the author is fantastic and his writing is excellent. I just felt the first book was far more disturbing than this one. This book is not a stand-alone. It moves the story forward and the characters show growth and development and even though you can tell it's building up to something big later in the series, there's still a ton of action. I like how the story is playing out so far and I want to keep reading the series.

Masih seru.
Semakin suka sama Connor, Risa, dan Lev.
Masih tetap bergidik ngeri kalau membayangkan pemisahan raga.

Sekarang gak sabar nunggu buku 3 dan 4.
Semoga cepat terbit.
Semoga gak diPhP penerbitnya.
Semoga semakin seru.

This book was great. The only reason I gave it four stars and not five is because it just wasn't quite as great as the first one. Here's why; first off, it just felt slower. For the most part it doesn't "move" much. Connor just stays where he is, (to avoid spoilers) Risa goes from staying one place to staying in another for most of the book, Lev, well, I guess he moves around a bit. But, my point is I started to get bored with the single locations. And it just wasn't as action pakced as the firt book (aside fromt he ending, like, whoa .

AND CAM. I loved him. Both the idea of him and his character. It was so great. I always looked forward to his POV.
Spoiler And him and Risa! I loved their interactions. I hope it doesn't get too love triangle-y cause I really love both Connor and Cam

I really love where the end is leading, too. I feel like where going to get a lot of answers to questions we may not have realized we had. It's gonna be great, I can feel it.

TL;DR: The book was fantastic, and I'm really excited to get into Unsouled.

The idea of Cam is absolutely fascinating to me. Looking forward to book 3.

I find myself not connecting with the series as each book introduces new main characters. The author doesn’t do the best job with female characters and depictions.

A lot of times the second book in a series doesn't quite measure up, but UnWholly is quite the sequel to Unwind. Here, Connor, Lev, and Risa's stories continue, and we see the consequences--both and good and bad--of their actions in Unwind. They all have to live with the choices they made or had forced upon them, and none of those adjustments are easy. To make matters more complicated, Connor discovers the Graveyard isn't everything he thought it was, and needs to come up with a plan to save the AWOLs taking refuge with him. With new personalities to deal with (the new characters are great additions, by the way, and do a great job of driving the plot), Connor's frustrations only seem to mount, and Risa and Lev must take stock of their values and decide how to act upon them.
Though at some points I could see where the book was going, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the third book, due out sometime this fall. And I want to track down the e-book that takes place between the first and second books. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys YA dystopian fiction, or dystopian fiction, or books like Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale, as the issues at hand follow in the same vein.

I was a bit worried about this book because Unwind was not originally supposed to be a trilogy. I hoped that Shusterman had some really cool ideas about continuing the story and was not just reacting to the dystopia craze in teen lit right now.

I had no reason to worry. This was riveting. I really loved how Shusterman included propaganda for unwinding in the narrative. That really added to the ambiance of the book. There are also snippets of actual articles about teenagers that make the concept of this book seem almost possible. Scary!

There were some parts that were so ominous that I had trouble reading them. Unwind was a dark book, but Unwholly takes it even further.

Highly recommended sequel! This is my favorite teen dystopian series.

As an aside - are teen authors competing for the most ridiculous titles? Fantastic book, but Unwholly, really?

Short review, because I'm tired:

Hate Starkey with all my heart. Want to know what happens next. Cam...you need help. The first half of the book was pretty dull, that's why I docked it a star, but the ending was powerful and completely set up the final book in the series. So excited!
