Neverah is the First Daughter, destined for the throne. Redarys is the Second Daughter, destined to be sent to the wolf of the Wilderwood, in hopes that he will free the Five Kings who have been trapped there for centuries. Despite her sacrifice, little information is given as to why this tradition has kept on going and where the other Second Daughters have gone on at first.
Eammon (the wolf) doesn't tell Redarys what she's supposed to do with herself once she gets there. As in, he doesn't sacrifice her, for some reason, and they get married through a ceremony involving hair, and then eventually love each other, all while cutting themselves because the Wilderwood likes their tasty blood, but they never sanitize the wounds. I guess infections magically go away in this world?! Wow, what a cool place.
Red rambles a LOT, because what else are you supposed to do with yourself in the middle of a haunted forest while you miss your twin sister?
Then we get to the swearing. They'll say "fuck" and "shit" alongside "kings" and "shadows". Can someone please explain this to me?! My inquiring linguist mind would like some background word information here. I guess romance-fantasy of this type isn't for me. I get being all hot and bothered for any guy that'll give you a small dose of attention in an isolated, possessed, insane forest, but why does that have to take up SO MANY pages?!
Okay, I'm off to read about fundamentalist, private Christian colleges now, this book was/is WEIRD.

Me molesta mucho cuando veo buenas ideas y una ambientación y personajes con muchísimo potencial, que se va perdiendo conforme avanza el libro y termina perdiendo todo el foco de la historia y solo creando confusión. Aún así, tengo algo de curiosidad por el segundo y quizá lo lea en algún momento.
a little too focused on the romance but it got better by the end! however she clearly does not care about magic or its rules bc not a thing is explained even by the end of this book btw!

There is so much repetition. This should have been about 100 pages shorter. I love little red riding hood, this was not what I expected…. Im not mad at it. But it could have been better. I will be reading the second book and reevaluating from there

This book fell more on the fantasy spectrum of romantasy and truth be told, there were even elements of horror in it. I didn’t dislike this book by any means, but I definitely had to work to get into it. It feels like the author’s writing got better as the story progressed which is a great thing and I will definitely read the second book, just not urgently.
