This book disturbed me more than I thought it would. I think there's so many situations in life where society tells us there's just a black-and-white way to feel- when ______happens, you should feel ______. And I love how this author challenges this, even if it made me uncomfortable as a reader.
You know the feeling when you feel like you read a book but you're not sure because it's a long time ago? That's how I feel about this. I'm 98% sure that I read this a couple years ago. I should probably re-read it.
I had SUCH high hopes for this and it just didn't reach them :( womp
I throughly enjoyed reading this. It was very well written. Descriptive and not lacking in poetic prose. I loved that it was entirely one sided, we only ever got Gemma perspective . The entire letter she was writing to ty, and howni found ty exterrmly hypocritical. My only down side to reading this was the vast amount of plot holes that I just couldn't get my head around. Like... how did ty get gem onto a plane without checking her in? How did he get the drugs through security? Where did the passports come from?
Either way. I very much look forward to reading through sequal

This one started a little rocky for me (I need dialog, dammit!), but turned into a pretty compelling story. I thought it captured the nuances of Stockholm Syndrome is a sophisticated, thought-provoking way, considering that this is a YA novel.
I don't really know how I feel about this novel. It's good, but it's very confusing, just as the author intended I bet. The reader experiences Stockholm syndrome just as the Gemma does. Because well, I wanted them to at least kiss. I was never satisfied. Which is good. Because I believe that I and other readers such as myself have been desynthesized to heroines that fall in love with their stalkers/kidnappers/abusers and we root for them because we want a happy ending for them. Which is sadly never the case in real life, much like this novel. Gemma is confused, scared and angry... and by God she fought and she didn't let him win. All girls need to read this, instead of books that promote falling in love with abusive males *coughttwilightcough*
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. unfortunately it took about 100 pages for the book to become interesting. I'm still glad I took the time to read it.
