I wanted to love this more than I did. The book follows the story of Elizabeth during present day and with three sections of the book focused on three different historical periods/happenings. I like how the book incorporated a magical retelling of historical periods. Furthermore, I was certainly interested in discovering what would come of warlock Gideon's claim on Elizabeth; however, it wasn't a page turner for me. I enjoyed the book and the story, but didn't devour it. It took about 100 pages to really get into it.
