Good read
It was a little slow to start, glad I Persevered as the story picked up pace. Can't wait for the second instalment & hope it's not the last we read of Bess.

DNF at 43%. The “love interest” (debatable) in this book is an honest to god proven rapist AND the main character is raped. The beginning was okay, but I’m not doing it. Nope.

The reviews said not to read it. I should have listened.
This book takes us through the life or lives of Elizabeth as she is stalked by a man who helped make her into a witch. For the most part I found the pacing of the book enjoyable and the switching back and forth from current day to the historical was not difficult to follow. The author clearly delineates when the reader is in the past or reading about a past "life" for Elizabeth.
Oddly enough I started to struggle with some of the pacing about 2/3 through and felt like there were entire sections that didn't add much to the narrative. At this point I found myself skimming looking for the point where I needed to pay closer attention.
The ending if the book leaves it open for a sequel and I saw that there is a second in the series but from the preview provided it does not appear to have any real correlation to the Witches Daughter.
If you enjoy stories with a historical bent this could be the book for you

The main character is written as a bit weak and kind of a wet blanket.

This was going to be a 5 star or at least a 4.5 because I love witchy historical fiction. But the ending was so abrupt and random and disappointing I can’t give it that rating in good conscience.
I can't abide a book where the MC is drawn to a man she catches raping someone. And the second rape scene in chapter 9 was too triggering for me. Horrific.
Graphic: Rape, Toxic relationship, Grief
Moderate: Child death, Death of parent, Pandemic/Epidemic
Minor: Animal cruelty, Sexual harassment
