It was interesting. I enjoyed the story but it left me wanting (and not in a good way). I'd like to know what comes next, but I skimmed so much of the book I don't think I can justify buying the next. The best part of the book was the stories from Bess' past.
I’m going to have to read. The pacing is way too slow for audio. Definitely some TW/CW pregnancy, childbirth, rape
I enjoyed the first third, but it became more and more predictable and heavy. It became hard to listen to (audiobook) as the new characters became less interesting and the plot points became much easier to predict.

The book has a main plot witch is intersected with various flashback stories that are in chronological order. All the stories come together towards the end, in an ending that can lead one to think that this is a stand-alone book, not a series.
