Interesting story concept, I like that Elizabeth's back story is told to us in three clearly defined segments. Her relationship with Teagan is great too.
However, I found the world building to be wonky. Is Elizabeth the only witch in the world? It doesn't seem so, there are rules and everything, and there is that throw away line about her being gifted a robe by a coven in India. But if there are other witches, who she has even interacted with, why don't they ever matter to her story in any way? Why couldn't she ask them for help?
Also, the ending felt very rushed.

The violence in this book was a bit too explicit for me. I got about halfway through and just didn’t want to continue.
I really enjoyed this book and finished it within the week. I'm really looking forward to continuing the series. I especially loved the way the author wrote throughout different historical events and kept a very good pace in the character development. Some books have a hard time pulling you in, this one did not have that problem. Right off the bat, you're invested in Bess.
I like it when I'm not sure how a book is going to end. I was thinking this book could go one of two ways. I was almost right.
I enjoyed some of this book but not all of it. I found the flashback portions too long and drawn out, overly detailed. Eh, not a favorite.
The Witch's Daughter is a great book to read during the holiday seasons. I couldn't help but love the hateful desire Elizabeth had against Gideon. Try as she might, both of them are inseparable. I look forward to seeing the next book.
The vibe of this book is too chill for the dreary, gloomy weather right now. So I got the audiobook to finish this for book club.
beautiful, sad and alluring
