The Sinner

This was my firs Kelsey Clayton book.

So I actually kept seeing Kelsey Clayton book The Saint popping up every where & because I’m very OCD with book series I always like to start with the first book which brought me here…

This was a friends to enemies to lovers romance! Which is 1 of my faves!

I enjoyed Savannah and her fiery personality even more so how she refused to let anyone break her! The connection between Savannah and Greyson was undeniable regardless of Grey fighting it for his own reasons! (No spoilers over here). Every character in this book left me wanting to know more about them!

I really enjoyed this book & can’t wait to dig into the rest of the series!

I only read 63% of this book.

Grayson and Savannah used to be best friends when they were kids. Then something happened to make Grayson and his family disappear. Savannah tried to find him but it was useless. Meanwhile, Savannah’s father gradually turns to drugs and alcohol, bringing her life crashing down even more. And Grayson? He returns with revenge (towards Savannah) on his mind.

If none of that made sense it’s because this didn’t make sense to me.

It’s also icky. Grayson is 18 and Savannah turns 18 in the middle of the story. For me, this story is icky because it has adult situations for two characters who behave like they are fourteen. I don’t have a problem with dark romance (on the contrary, I prefer it most times), but there is dark romance and there is a story about toxicity. Which that, too, can be intriguing if done well. And, well, I didn’t finish this one so……

Just ew.

Savannah & Grayson

I’ve been trying out new romance themes and since I love enemies to lovers, I thought I’d enjoy bully romances but so far that hasn’t been the case. I think it’s because most take place either in high school or the early college years and teenagers are too immature for me. However, I liked this book a lot. The main characters were 18 but I felt like they were older based on how their life experiences and how fast they had to grow up. I believe this is probably a “bully light” book based on some of the others I’ve tried to read but I don’t like the ones that are super hateful for stupid reasons nor can I stand forced consent. At least Grayson had a legitimate reason for wanting to destroy Savannah unlike some others I’ve read lately.

First in series taking place at Haven Grace Prep School, we have Savannah and Grayson’s story. These two grew up together until Gray moved away unexpectedly breaking both their hearts. Present day we have Grayson returning to town with the goal of destroying Savannah’s life because he thinks she had a part in a nefarious plan that ruined his family. Savannah is the cheerleader captain and the most popular girl in school but is living a lie as her supposed happy life is anything but. When these two reunite after years apart, they are drawn to each other instantly but with Grayson vowing revenge and Savannah just trying to get through the day, the future looks bleak.

I liked this book because of the ongoing issue of what happened to sever their friendship. I had a few ideas going but I was way off base and I appreciated the surprise elements. My only real issue with this book was the OW drama and I get it’s a bully book and Gray was just using her to make Savi jealous but his inner thoughts clashed with his actions too much. Once him and Savi start getting together, he’s still kissing other people just imagining they were Savi but I don’t want to read about OW and the main character especially when the heroine is a virgin and he’s the only one she’s been with. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book and am curious about the rest of this series or the spin off that takes place in college.

Wow!! This is another awesome bully romance that had me hooked from beginning to end and I didn’t want to put the book down!!

I loved Savannah and I soon understood why she kept her life so much under wrapped and how her school behaviour was to keep people at a safe distance. I loved her relationship with Brady and how he and his mom were there for Savannah. I also loved her passion for dancing and how she knew it was her only escape from town and she worked hard to try and get a scholarship for Juilliard.

Grayson is one of those characters that you hate right from the beginning but you also know something happened in the past to make him hate Savannah so much. Slowly you begin to learn why but there are still so many gaps. He treated Savannah so badly but at times you could tell he was so conflicted with what he felt like he owed his dad and how he was beginning to feel himself.

My heart broke for Savannah and what she had to endure from her drunk father. I couldn’t believe that she had kept that secret from everyone, including Brady and I hated that she had no one to protect her.

I was so mad at what Grayson did to Brady and then my heart dropped when he learned certain things about Savannah and how he planned to use it against her. I was happy when Knox told Savannah what Grayson but I knew it was tough for Savannah to put everything together. I hated Grayson after Savannah’s birthday but I was happy that he sent Delaney to see Savannah although that ended up creating more problems for Savannah at home.

I was so mad at Trey for revealing what he did and then what happened to Savannah in the aftermath. I was so furious at Grayson for his actions and how he purposely tried to make Savannah jealous. The dance sounding amazing and it really made Grayson realize some things! I was happy when Grayson discovers more of the truth and everything Savannah had been going through.

I was happy when Grayson finally revealed everything but when I figured out what Savannah was planning on doing my heart just broke.

The end was awesome with a little twist I did not expect but I was super happy!!
