Wow, what a fun reading experience! I listened to the audio for this reread (alongside a paperback). I like to annotate books, especially classics. This time I found that I was making some new notes but also some of the same - places where the writing or insights caught me a second time. Brontë is genius and I love Jane Eyre. I’m so glad my book club chose this for August. The structure, characters, plot, and writing are brilliant and well done.

Love a strong woman lead. Don’t know how I feel about her decisions at the end of the book, she was so strong and independent but in the end she did get to decide for herself how she wanted to live her life, which was an uncommon luxury for women and one that she suffered to ultimately arrive to. Jane is a boss in her own right and all of the men are truly pathetic
