Hadn't sat down with this story since 1998 AP English class. Elijah Wood's narration is phenomenal. I had forgotten about the Tom Sawyer arc. Top notch stuff.

Deciphering the vernacular was challenging. Filled with so much humour and wit. Fuck Tom Sawyer.
I read this as a teenager. it was one of the first books to show me that there was an adventure out there waiting for all of us. We just had to begin it.

This was uncomfortable to read/listen to, but I think it’s important to read it at least once.
I wanted to read this before reading Percival Everett’s book: James.
I thought Huck grew to have good judgement and see Jim as a human being (as best he could at the time) but the whole thing at the end with Tom really pissed me off.
That said, I still think it’s an important read.
