Omg Hudson and Stella are the best. I need more of them. I devoured this story

While I did enjoy this book for the most part, I didn’t love it- came away overall just feeling lukewarm about it- which is disappointing because I normally love this author. I loved the beginning of this story- a great and memorable meet cute, steamy chemistry and fun banter, two memorable characters and the chance to dig into some interesting side characters. This story had some spark.

And, from there, that spark just fizzled a bit for me. The writing was good, and there is a lot to like about Stella and Hudson. Hudson felt inconsistent in places as a character, which perhaps just means I didn’t personally grasp his character as others clearly have. Stella was perfectly enjoyable as a heroine- but her and Hudson’s chemistry just felt a bit ...blah....for me. I didn’t really feel the heat or that fantastic initial spark. This is also a very slow burn- relationally and physically- and we have some other side drama that I fell a bit flat for me- and for what the twist and drama was, it just seemed a bit anticlimactic and underdeveloped despite it being pretty huge.

For me, this wasn’t my favorite from this author- though I know so many others will enjoy this- low on the heat scale, slow burn, parts of it are sugary sweet!

My favourite book that Vi has written!

I couldn’t put the book down. There was a solid storyline, it wasn’t cheesy & the twist

Well, well... I wasn’t expecting that!!

Stella Bordeaux likes to live her life through the reading of other peoples old diaries . But after getting to caught up in the whirlwind of a NYC based diary, quitting her job as a perfume chemist because she wants to start her own perfume company + her now ex-roommate Evelyn leaving in the middle of the night without paying any rent, Stella decides it’s time to live a little . Sneaking into the wedding of the season with her best friend Fisher while pretending to be Evelyn seemed like a fool proof plan .. that is until Stella is caught . Put on the spot in front of everyone by none other than the brother of the bride, Stella decides the best way out is forward . After the most embarrassing performance of her life, Stella + Fisher sprint out of the wedding before they are caught and make it to a cab safely . Only to find out that Stella has left behind the one thing she can’t afford to loose right now .. her phone .

Hudson Rothschild didn’t think he would be celebrating his little sister getting married, at the same place he did, only a few short years after his divorce was finalized . Only having room in his heart for his sister + his adorable six year old daughter Charlie, was enough for Hudson . That is until he sees the most beautiful women standing at the bar in a debate over which gin was used . It was right then + there that Hudson knew he had to have her . That is until he asks for her name and she tells him, Evelyn Wittley . As in his sister’s + his ex wife’s friend, who he had met several times, Evelyn Wittley . Realizing she snuck into this wedding for some reason pretending to be Evelyn, Hudson takes it upon himself to inflict the most embarrassing situation he can think of on such short notice . But when Stella doesn’t back down from his games, that’s when he knows he will never be able to let her go . And luckily even with her slipping through his fingers, he won’t have to because he has something that she will come looking for .

Hudson + Stella are down right perfect for each other . Where he is hard and rigid, she is soft and full of light . The chaos and comedic energy that follows them only makes you fall in love with them the more you read . Charlie is one of my favorite book kiddos ever written . The Dolly Parton, purple loving, ice cream obsessed little girl is adorable + is probably the funniest person in the whole book . Fisher is a story I would love love love to read because he seems like the fun kind of crazy + someone who would fall in love hard .

I love everything about this book except for the fact that we can’t have more of Hudson + Stella . This is one of the funniest books I have ever read, I mean tears streaming down your face funny . Just when you think the secondhand embarrassment can’t possibly get any worse, it does in the best way possible . I love how even with this being the funniest book, it also has gut wrenching secrets + such deep rooted betrayal combined with just enough spice to make for the perfect book . I have read just about every single Vi Keeland book and this is my all time favorite .

Still not convinced ?? Just know he secretly reads all of her favorite books because he wants to know everything about her + he names his new dog after their meet cute .. I mean come on

This book has some similarities to Happily Letter After by this author and her writing partner, Penelope Ward. There is a single dad and a cute little girl, as well as a 'Fate' or 'Destiny' type of theme... though that isn't realized until the end. They met in an interesting kind of way, and in reality shouldn't have ever crossed paths. There was an instant attraction, but after spending a little time together during their meet-cute, he realized she wasn't who she said she was, and that was the end of things on his end, but that whole fate thing came back to fight for her. The supporting characters are just as entertaining. Her best friend and his young daughter. After the initial misunderstanding, things were pretty smooth between them, though she was not wanting to start anything with him for fear of possible future hardships, but he never left her drift away too far. While there isn't some big break up, something does happen that causes them to be apart for awhile... but since we know this has a happy ending, that didn't last long. There is a surprising shocker and a couple secrets involved. There is also a little mystery in regards to their past that we get a few hints about, before the truth comes to light. The story itself is rather sweet, as are the characters... even if he tries to hide it. ;) There is some sexiness that is suitable for mature readers. There are a few laughs. For the most part it is a light-hearted read, but there are some aspects that add a little weight to it. It is easy to read. Alternates between POV and there are a few times the story goes back in time. It gets you hooked from the beginning.

I totally read this book in one sitting.

Once you start, you will not be able to stop.

Author Vi Keeland gives us the sexy Hudson & Stella.

I loved the sweet, fun, sexy, angsty twist story of these two.

The characters and storyline was refreshing to read.

I liked twist in the story and the Happily Ever After.

I must read romance.
