This was a fun little somewhat absurdist fantastical jaunt. I really enjoyed that what happened in the fantasy realm tied back into the feelings and lives of the characters’ home world

I tried and tried. I could not get into it. It is clever and has a lot of puns. I am gonna try again another time.

This novel is a gorgeous story stitched and woven together to form an elaborate tapestry of vivid detail, incredible characters, and absolutely wonderful imagery. Salman Rushdie originally wrote this novel for his son to whom the book is dedicated in 1992. Regardless of its status as a children's book it is full of allegories referring to man modern day problems existing in society, specifically in India. This is a MUST read for all ages.

Alice in Wonderland but (even) more fun. So imaginative, so funny, so easy to read and just a journey.

Some lovely wordplay. It's a well written children's story, full of allegory and whimsy. I particularly liked the plentimaw fishes. It had a lot to say about freedom of speech and the damages caused by authoritarian and shutting down freedom of expression - probably unsurprisingly given the author and when it was written
