They should have ended the love story.
It could be overly punitive since I read this in a sour mood, but my goodness this felt completely uncompelling and frustrating. Half of it was sex scenes I had to skip through and the main character's love did not convince me at all.
Not sure there was anything redeeming in it for me.

Would not have picked this up if it wasn't a book club read. I prefer my romances to be a bit more complex and realistic than most probably like, and in the beginning that's how it felt. Now is it realistic? I'm not sure if anyone would date the guy whose car it was their sister jumped in front of and died from (even if it wasn't necessarily his fault). It's definitely complex and mature, with a lot of trauma that the MMC and FMC are immediately dealing with. The MMC is dealing with anxiety and guilt and the FMC is dealing with guilt, parental expectations, imposter syndrome, etc. Everyone is troubled and needs more therapy than they are seeking.

It started off fine but then the leads immediately start sleeping together and the FMC quickly gets over her hatred of the MMC. She hates him in the beginning and it makes sense with the unassisted suicide situation and his involvement in it, but it seems that she develops feelings for him all of a sudden. She's blamed him for his role in her sister's death for decades and when she first sees him is still upset but then that vanishes all of a sudden.  It's a bit too far-fetched for my liking. There was no build up between the hatred to the sleeping together and realizing they love each other. I just wish there was more growth and relationship building. I felt that the relationship was very physical, and when the MMC did try to speak about his feelings the FMC just avoided it by having more sex. This isn't even touched on later.

There is way too much italics for my liking, and the dual POV within chapters (even tho characters had their own chapters) threw me off in the beginning. I did enjoy the tidbits of how writing rooms work and the process of adapting novels into screenplays/scripts for television. Not a bad debut.
