I have owned this book since it came out, but only picked it up because I saw my mother in law was reading it. That was a mistake because my brain may have read the same VERY SEXY scenes as my mother in law. The sexiest of the sexy scenes didn't even go all the way!! Wild.

The love story itself. UGH. I was giggling, I was cheesing, I was YELLING at my characters. I was very invested, totally sucked into this story. I wanted to just sit and eat this book all the way up in one gobble.

The premise of the entanglement and reconnection was, like so many other romance stories, far-fetched and very traumatic, but dang did this WORK for me.

As someone who has experienced the suicide of a loved one, I can really identify with the conflicted feelings that our FMC is harboring. On the other side, the PTSD and panic attacks that the MMC experiences also felt so true to what I've seen from my husband who has similar experiences.

It was just really well and carefully done.

Another thing I really liked about this book was that our FMC did some things that were really unlikeable, but somehow I was still rooting for her to turn things around after she made a real mess of things. Her reaction felt.... If not what I would have personally done in the situation... It felt a little necessary for a person to go through after so many years of doing what was *right.*

I definitely enjoyed this, a quick read with lots of character focus. I think ultimately I found the premise a little too unbelievable and was unable to suspend disbelief. I’m not usually a romance reader, and that is likely a large part of my reaction.

Bit of a slow start, but a really well-written book. Loved the exploration of second-culture adults. Definitely worth the read!

Not what I expected (a frothy rom-com), but it was very good. A much more serious novel: a romance with some dark themes including suicide, mental health issues, self-doubt, and more. Well done.
