I really liked the fact that it gave so many perspective from so many women! I loved how diverse it was, there weren't just life stories, there were some funny chapter, some embarassing ones... I really recommend this book to anyone who is interested by people's experience with feminism (should be everyone in my opinion).
“When a feminist 'gets some action'. she does not in fact hook up with her crush but instead changes the world. Or does both.”
This collection of essays, poetry, and insight from wonderful women from diverse life background is a very wonderful, refreshing read. It provides a warm perspective towards its readers but there are also fierce accounts that will make you want to fight for women more. This is not a book that will provide you with a strict formula on how to be a perfect feminist yourself but it will help you see how feminism works in different varying forms, in different struggle (or even thriving!), and in different ways it works for beautiful, strong women around the world.

Really enjoyed this. The kind of book you can put down and pick up at any time, as each chapter is a story in itself. Keira Knightley's piece was a revelation to me. A lovely collection of stories
What a breath taking collection of essays, poetry and lists by some of the most amazing, powerful, beautiful women. It was wonderful to hear so many voices of so many sisters across distance and time. My favourite was Kiera Knightley's piece on being a mother, 'Weaker Sex'.
Not sure if you're a feminist? Then this is the book for you.

An excellent primer to feminism, particularly for girls and women who are new to the movement. Also perhaps of interest to men and boys who are learning to get to grips with it, but do note that this book focuses on women's experiences and does not include much in the way of how feminism benefits men (which, of course, it does).
Fav quote is from Scarlett Curtis's 'epilogue':
"The statement 'I used to be a feminist but I changed my mind' has been uttered by exactly zero people throughout history".

Doesn't include a lot of theory, but a really good introduction to feminist theory if you want to get into it. Also a good introduction to feminism in general as it is truly diverse with a lot of different voices which is nice as stated in the book a lot of feminist theory can be quite predominately white. I liked the stories but my favourite part was probably the education section. I thought that was very interesting.
A 2019 Christmas present from my father... The man who jokingly bought me a set of Sabatier knives for Christmas 2012 with the instruction "Find a rich man, cook him a nice dinner with your fancy knives and get him to marry you".
Let's just say, I'm glad he, the world and I have all progressed in our understanding of feminism since that day.
'I think so many women have the power to tackle misogyny in their own homes. It starts by by never taking for granted how poisonous society can be to the male psyche, and protecting boys from the onslaught of misinformation everywhere. They are bombarded with dangerous imagery, song lyrics, peer pressure and often quite damaging / violent / entirely-intimacy-free pornography, all of which is sold to them as a glamorous and realistic norm. Men are throttled with toxic masculinity and given made up ideals that they are forced to subscribe to. They are belittled and rejected when they show signs of sensitivity. They are mocked and insulted when they show their pain or 'care too much'. Songs that are kind to women, or talk about feelings, are considered 'wet' or labelled 'sad boy music'. It's such a potent, rotten marinade that boys grow up being soaked in.'
