My favorite of the novellas

This review is based on “The Assassins Blade” book which has all 5 prequels in it. There is debate as to where this lies in the series. It is a prequel collection (I didn’t realize this at first). I started to read TOG and decided to come here first and personally it was the right choice for me. There is backstory and a significant relationship that are highlighted and without this one you don’t feel the full feel of it. And SJM fans usually live for the feels she brings to the table.

Get ready. Get set. Get wrecked.

This next novella is about to ruin my life

First Read:

This one was pretty good. Good actions mystery was a bit better. I don't know if I can handle the next one after falling in love with Sam like that. :'(

I hate Arobynn. That is all.

Fine. Could feel the buildup, loved the characters development of some of them, shows the link between pre and post endovier.

Awesome! I didn't get a lot of work done yesterday because I was sucked into this story. (Good thing I'd already got my school projects done ; ) I read the snippet for [b:Throne of Glass|7896527|Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)|Sarah J. Maas|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1335819760s/7896527.jpg|11138426], so I was worried sick that something would happen to Sam.

The worst thing about this book was how it ended. I am now neurotic because this book doesn't explain how Celaena ended up in the salt mines. Her being there means that some Horrible Event happened. Well, the Horrible Event that I was bracing myself for didn't occur and now I'm greatly concerned about what went wrong and who else was hurt. Besides that, some people might have thought the end a bit disappointing because of all the loose ends, but I understand that this is a prelude to the series and that not everything can be resolved just yet.

I like Celaena and Sam much better than some other literary warrior couples *coughcoughGracelingcoughcough* because I thought their relationship was more balanced and realistic. They fight and everything (who doesn't?) but they are pretty good at making it up and "getting over it." Of course there's no mention of Sam in the snippet for Throne of Glass... Ooohhh...now I'm worrying again! I am dying to read Throne of Glass!
adventurous fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

The novellas have definitely started to pick up which is nice and it's clear to see the direction they're going in. Celaena and Sam are very cute but I'll be honest and say I'm not super invested just due to the little time we've had with them. Still loving all of the Easter Eggs.

Possible spoiler!
Is it just me that feels as though the masked men at the party were Dorian and Chaol? Just the way they were described with the main guy being so handsome with dark hair and his friend being armed, reluctant to be there and having bronze eyes??
Not sure if in clutching at straws here or not but personally loved questioning if it was.
