So, I basically deleted my entire original review of this novella because I do not believe it aligns with anything I feel about it now. I reread this because my friend recently purchased the book and I wanted a refresher on what had happened before I started "Crown of Midnight" because the evvents from this book start being important in Queen of Shadows. So it was a double win.
I really loved Calaena and Sam's relationship in this one. The beginning is a bit... annoying, but it gets better. This is probably my favorite novella from the book "The Assasin's Blade"

I liked the character development very much. While Celeana may be the best, her arrogance and youth are there to trip her up. Arrobyn's true character as a sadistic assbutt has also become apparent. Sam too is a sweetheart, and the tension between them was palpable and great. And POSSIBLE SPOILERS I hope that what happened in the fictionpress version won't happen in this version. END. I do wish Celeana didn't follow Arrobyn's orders so closely, although I guess that's just her youth, she still trusts him, or choses to trust him, but I wish she'd use her brain and figure that he's an assbutt.

Great novella to read before book 4 Queen of Shadows. This book dives into Celena’s and Arybonn’s relationship.

Why was I sitting there waiting for Celaena to enter the underworld? I get it now but from the title I was really expecting a full on trip to hell.
Arobynn love bombing Celaena when she came back from the desert was absolutely wild! And then him not looking at the letter from the Mute Master at first was insane. Then Arobynn's half ass apology was so terrible!
I didn't trust Arobynn when he was talking about Doneval because it just didn't feel right especially after his reaction to what happened in Skull's Bay.
Sam in this novella was everything! "Are you hurt?" "Tell me what happened" UGH love him!
The whole bidding thing was very strange. And then Arobynn using Celaena's money for Lysandra's bidding?? Absolutely not!
Arobynn making Sam pay for the suit but not Celaena was just so UGH.
Sam agreeing to forgive Arobynn only if he promised to never lay a hand on Celaena!!! I LOVE HIM! Then him saying that his real punishment was wathcing Arobynn beat her????
Celaena being obsessed with scarring and hiding scars was interesting. She notices them on everyone else too so I wonder how that will unfold later on.
Then Sam gifting her the sheet music from the orchestra that they went to?? I'm obsessed!
The guy coming up to her with the mask that had the blue eyes gave second love interest energy. And maybe I'm just crazy and delusional but that's where my brain was.
"She's spoken for" AHHHHHHH
Celaena almost dying in the sewers and telling Sam to take her body home? Ugh I almost cried right there!
Arobynn telling Celaena that she was finally free felt kind of anticlimactic to me. But following this up with "Because I love you!" from Sam? UGH my heart AGAIN!
Celaena swearing that if Sam was hurt, no one would be able to hold her back from killing everyone responsible just let me know what was going to happen.
Then Arobynn revealing that he tricked her... are we surprised here? Because I'm not surprised at all.
Celaena paying off Sam's debt was so sweet!
"And from today onward, I want to never be separated from you. Wherever you go, I go. Even if that means going to Hell itself, wherever you are, that's where I want to be. Forever." MY WHOLE HEART
