  • ⭐️.75 stars
  • Ok so I tried to stay strong but I skimmed the end
  • I can't believe I'm saying this but I get Lex so much and HE DOES NOT NEED A WIFE HE NEEDS A FRIEND AND THERAPY!
  • Raya was so amazing and I loved seeing the Indian representation but I feel like Catharina went crazy after The Unwanted Marriage
  • Honestly I'm so disappointed that my poor baby Lex got stuck with this plot. It was all too stuffed in the last half. He deserved better.
  • I still love Lex tho 😭 I refuse to believe that the last bit is canon
  • Honestly though as much as I love Lex, Raya is not for him either way
  • I genuinely want to book for Maya so bad, I can’t wait to see her perspective of things and who she ends up with
  • I hope Xierra is done better, l've been waiting for so long and I hope I'm not disappointed

This book has so much potential. I kept feeling that the book was focused more on smut than on the real emotional connection between the characters. Personally I love reading smut scenes but didn't enjoy it in this book.

”Flying is the one thing that’s always only ever been mine, the one thing that’s always made any day better. It’s seen me through some rough periods, and I didn’t think I’d ever want to share it with someone. Yet somehow, you’ve made me want to turn it into something that could be ours.”  ~ Lexington ”Lex” Windsor

This book left me unsure of how to explain the plot. The storyline felt forced and recycled, and the "love" between the leads was unconvincing. The Windsor men clearly need therapists more than wives. Lex initially embraced his feelings and tried in the relationship, but he desperately needs more therapy. However, the storyline with the grandpa was cute and loving.

As far as plot is concerned, I liked this WAY better than the first one. HOWEVER THE THIRD ACT TWIST?!?! Like my GOD I know this guy has issues, but that was just one step too far.

I have read 3 out of the 4 books previously penned by this author so I knew what I was going into. I was here for a good time not a literary masterpiece. BUT WHAT WAS THIS.
The first half was fine. He meets her under false pretenses but she finds out (thankfully) and forgives him (girl stand up). The whole showing up as her professor was kinda icky to me and seemed unnecessary- it felt it was thrown in to add another trope to market the book. The second half of the book was so information dense. Never a dull moment with these two I guess. Betrayals and kidnappings like this was a gosh darn soap opera-
But the crowing jewel has to be the gun scene. Chucked in like the last 50 pages (maybe less) Lexington accuses Raya of betraying him and points a gun to her head strong enough to leave bruises. WHAT? HOW? um. WHAT WAS THE REASON? All of this could have omitted altogether, the story could've been 50 pages shorter and my sanity would have survived the night. But Raya forgives him again. THEN she finds out he's been violating her privacy this whole time by tracking he. Lex gains (buys) her trust by showering with gifts and learning her fav biryani recipe (bare minimum) for a month. A MONTH. And she forgives him yet again SURPRISE SURPRISE (girl please stand up). And they live happily ever after. Towards the end I was literally rooting for them to break up- Raya could do better for herself.

Other things:
At some point when disaster strikes the Windsor family and they have like an Avengers Assemble moment where every couple gets a moment with their 'powers':
"Raven steps forward. “I’ve cancelled all my contracts with every media outlet that’s dared speak ill about Raya, with no repercussions to us thanks to the clauses written in all my contracts. Most of them are actively in the process of removing their articles in an attempt to retain me and avoid the heavy penalties they’ll have to pay.” Val grins, her eyes cold. “I’m pumping and dumping as many papers as I can, silently investing for now. In the next couple of days, when their share price is inflated, I’ll sell, leaving them scrambling to explain themselves to their shareholders. They’ll make huge losses, and they’ll never be able to tie it back to us.” Faye holds up her phone. “I just cancelled all my upcoming concerts and let my fans know that I’m deeply distraught about the way my sister-in-law is being treated. It has all my fans up in arms, and they’ve massively begun to comment on all articles out there, defending Raya, just like Raven’s fans have started to do.” Celeste places her hand on Zane’s shoulder and smiles. “I spent the last hour finding out the names of all reporters that dared publish anything about Raya. They’ll all receive the Windsor Kiss of Death — we’re freezing their assets if they’re with the Windsor Bank, blacklisting them from every establishment we own, and because I’m extra pissed off by this, I’ve also checked whether they or any of their family members have any holidays booked at any of our hotels. I’ve instructed my staff to cancel their reservations, but not to let them know until they arrive at the premises. Let’s see how they feel when not just their own, but their friends’ and family’s lives are affected, for years to come.”

PLEASE WHAT WAS THIS I WAS WHEEZING I COULD JUST IMAGINE EVERY SISTER IN LAW TAKING A STEP FRONT WITH A SPOTLIGHT SHINING ON THEM AS THEY DID THIS.
I will say I really appreciated the incorporation of Raya's culture in the story. It was important to her character, appropriate and never felt forced or being over done.
1 star is for the positive hijabi rep- I loved Halima- although her role was small, any good rep is appreciated

Another good book in the Windsor brothers series. The last of the brothers to have an arranged marriage, Lex has real trust and control issues and comes close to losing Raya. A good read if uncomfortable in places
