Say what you will about Dickens; this book is tremendously exciting and I, for one, was glad to have to read it for class (5th grade? is what I remember, but surely not?).

Even better reading it 17 years later (ouch, I feel old!)

Could not stay focused. Had to read the summary several times cause my brain kept switching off. This novel wasnt for me.

I’m currently 0-2 over the last month on enjoying literary classics.

The best part of this book (and only good part) was the parting line of the novel for 2 reasons. “It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”
1. The books over, HOORAY!!
2. Detective Gordon eulogizes Bruce Wayne/Batman with this line at his “funeral”

Maybe books like 1984 or A Tale of Two Cities can only be enjoyed if your high school teacher is forcing you to enjoy it (jk, you couldn’t read either of these books in Florida high schools, they have kissing

I hated this book so much it made me stop reading for a month. The narrator was fucking horrible. This book has completely turned me off from Dickens.
adventurous emotional mysterious medium-paced

I don't think I completely finished, to be honest, I got a bit bored.

I realized that even though I liked the way Dickens sounded, I wasn’t getting a lot out of the book and was having a hard time tracking things. It seemed like a ridiculous number of people had a name that rhymed with or sounded like Jerry. Also, apparently Ms. Minnet was a big deal, but Dickens just wrote her as a sympathetic frail woman who loved her dad and basically did nothing else. I looked up a book overview to get a better grip on what I was reading, and realized I just wasn’t interested in the content like I thought I would be. Trying to be proud that I DNF’d it so I can have more time to read other things that interest me!
