Black Mouth was my first introduction to Ronald Malfi’s writing, and it turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable read. The novel is well structured, with a steady pace that builds tension effectively without ever feeling rushed. Malfi does an excellent job of blending psychological horror with mystery, creating a haunting atmosphere that lingers throughout the story.

The characters are thoughtfully developed, each carrying emotional depth and a sense of realism that makes their journey all the more compelling. The themes of trauma, guilt, and childhood fears are handled with care, adding emotional weight to the horror elements.

Overall,  I think Black Mouth is a great start on my Malfi journey that left a strong impression. I’ll definitely be seeking out more of Malfi’s work in the future.
