Another great collection of Edward Gorey's works, and the only one I was missing. I owned a few of the stories as stand alone books, but the rest I hadn't seen before. Glad to have it my collection!
This one is more child friendly than previous anthologies, with no sexy stories (like the Pornographic Sofa) or grisly murders (like Gashlycrumb Tinies). There is a series of plates about murderesses but only the text was graphic.
The collection is a lot more scattered, and feels like odds and ends that didn't make it into the other books. If you're not a collector or huge fan of Gorey this might not be the best one to read first.
Overall, I adore his work as always!

I really think I write about everyday life. I don't think I'm quite as odd as others say I am. Life is intrinsically, well, boring and dangerous at the same time. At any given moment the floor may open up. Of course, it almost never does; that's what makes it so boring.

Not the floor, please; the ceiling.

A random collection of Gorey's works, almost all of them not well-known. And it is dark and surreal like all of Gorey's works, but these are not as good as his better known ones. There are a couple excellent ones (The Deadly Blotter alphabet, the Dogear Wryde Postcards: Neglected Murderesses Series), but mostly they are just bizarre.

Love Edward Gorey. The stories are excellent- in their peculiar, delightfully weird way. The illustrations remind me of the days of PBS Mystery!, which is awesome. And this one features a kind of Choose-your-own-adventure, before its time. That was neat. Just an excellent collection- even the ones that I finish reading and think 'Um... what?' are wonderful in their own, absurd way.

The Raging Tide was incredibly amusing, and the final piece was so sad-clearly left unfinished due to Gorey's death.

A fine collection of odd bits of Gorey, many of them from magazines and things, published after his death.

"The Haunted Tea-Cosy" is a must-read holiday tale, recounting the visit of a trio of subfuse but transparent personages, guided by the Bahhum Bug. And the rest of it is amusing, as well.
