I have never disliked book characters more and I’m reminded of why I don’t talk to people from high school. Overall it was good writing, but I often had difficult keeping track of characters since it switches narrators. The story takes some interesting turns.
dark mysterious tense

i felt like I figured out the major plot twists early. As soon as Annabelle pretended to be the bride, I knew the opener meant Annabelle would be the one standing in the end. I figured out pretty early that Poppy was actually Wendy between her being a doctor and how different she looked. Still enjoyed it but it felt like so many hints were dropped that ot ruined the actual twist.

fun time!

If you want to read about a bunch of shitty people sitting on an island for 50% of a book and then have a predictable ending, then this is the book for you. None of these characters have a single redeeming quality. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because the second half of the book at least kept me engaged.

What a dark and twisted story! An invitation arrives for four women who were once close friends of someone from their past. The invitation from Poppy requests that they be her bridesmaids and contains airline tickets to a remote island getaway. What could go wrong? You can’t turn down an expense-paid getaway to the Bahamas.

Suspicion tugs at each corner of this book. You get the feeling something is wrong from the beginning pages. Each of the four women appears to have it all. Their lives look perfect on social media and though they question why Poppy is reaching out to them after 10 years they go on the trip.

This tale is woven with heartbreak and cruelty. It’s hard to know what to believe and whom to be angry at. I didn’t see some of it coming. But as the threads unraveled, it was clear that the past was there to haunt them and in the end, the women, might have to pay for the cruelty they inflicted in their childhoods.

It was a thrilling read and kept my attention to the very end. The horrible truths that were exposed were unthinkable. A psychological thriller that will stay with you long after you put the book down.
