Growing up, Annabelle, Esther, Tanya, and Chloe were best friends. In adulthood, they are all still friends, though not nearly as close as they were in the past. One day, each of the women receives an invitation from an unexpected person from their past.
Poppy Greer has invited them all to an all expenses paid trip to a private island in the Bahamas for her bachelorette party. Naturally, nobody can resist this invitation and the chance to see what Poppy Greer has been up to and who she has become.
As the bachelorette party progresses, the four friends quickly find out that Poppy is not the same girl they deemed as the weakest link in their group, and things start to take a dark turn.
I thought this was a fun read! The perspective shifts between characters each chapter, which for me was a little hard to keep track, but I typically have a hard time focusing with more than two characters & 1 enjoyed the drama that happened as things started to be revealed and unravel. It made me think of all the trashy reality tv shows I enjoy 2 I did predict the twist, but overall I still thoroughly enjoyed this book! I think it was a fun debut and I'd be excited to see what comes next from Sian Gilbert!

This book was so bad I'm actually mad about it. These people are all so stupid and terrible they deserve to die. Who would agree to go on vacation with their bullying victim after not speaking to them for 10 years? Then why did no one understand if there is no body then maybe they aren't dead?! So angry.
TWs suicide, self-harm, bullying
My May Book of the Month selection, She Started It is the perfect summer thriller and revenge story with a slightly predictable ending - that really didn't deter from the suspense.
Atmospheric, with detestably engaging characters, I breezed right through this one. Plus, who doesn't love a hen party?

I did the audio of this book. I almost DNF and then I got busy and let it just keep playing. I did not enjoy this book and wish I had just stopped it. Just a bunch of bullies on an island.
