Took me forever to figure out why I just wasn't connecting to this book/series and after some sleuthing I found out the audiobook narrator is a Black American woman doing a sort of Pan African accent. Having heard many authentic African accents this drove me batshit crazy. Why couldn't they just hire an actual African voice actor to read this if that was the vibe they were going for?!

4✨ I’m liking this short trilogy! The first book left me wanting more character and story development, and I think this book definitely hit the mark with that! Can’t wait to see how it finishes :)

Great sequel to Binti.
There’s much more of a character focus in this one, and it starts a little slow, but it’s more impactful and emotional than the first book. Grappling with identity is rough.
Definitely worth the read for fans of Binti, and I look forward to reading the third book.

This was such a beautiful story about a girl struggling with her identity, and I loved the addition of sci-fi in it.
