Awesome! 4.5 stars! That cliffhanger at the end, though!

Well, this didn’t take the route I’d hoped it would take, but I’m not necessarily mad about it. I think the way it did end up going was interesting, but I feel like the same thing that happened with the first book where the thing I’m most interested in (the Oomza Uni) wasn’t really the main focus not only happened again in this book with the Enyi Zinariya but is probably going to happen again in the next book, which makes me less excited to read it. Also, while we did get a tad more character growth from Binti in this one, I feel like it’s still just not enough? These novellas would really have benefited from having an extra 50-100 pages each so that we could really get a sense of Binti as a person.

The scope of Nnedi Okafor’s imagination is breath-taking.

This series is great. Found the first few chapters really hard to get into, a bit of me reacquainting myself with the African names and term but it also felt a bit clunky and jumping in those first few chapters, something that was not an issue in Binti or in the the rest of the book. Onwards to the last in the series.

Overall I like the story, but it has many of the same problems as the first book. There is just too little development for the world presented.
The story is compelling, and the characters are mostly interesting, but there is no development for charcter or world on the page.
They issue is presented and then resolved with a few words of explanation; a tell, don't show situation. Which is frustrating because they have a good writing style, and the world itself feels whole. We just don't get enough of it on the page.
I will continue the series because it is good, and I do mostly like it.
