Oh Binti,
Why are you so interesting. This series is an example of solid character development in science fiction.
I was very pleased with how much time this small book took making me believe in the trauma experienced from the previous novella. This was probably the strongest theme and plot device of the book because it was a stark contrast to the strong, willful, likable character of Binti. The story is really starting to branch out too with some interesting reveals later on relating to the title subject that i found compelling. I hope the next one finds a way to keep the threads together and finish strong.
Will be returning to finish this one.

This was, in some ways, even better than the first one, and I can't wait for #3 to come out (hopefully this fall.)
I re-read this since I'd forgotten what happened, and I'm finally getting to read #3.

The first ~half of this book felt slow & disjointed. Once Binti is back on Earth and enters the desert, it suddenly became an incredible story of indigenous knowledge, ancestry, mythology, belonging, and community. Wow-- I loved the back end, felt disappointed by the beginning. Curious to see what the third book holds!
Me ha gustado mucho más este que el primero. Me da la sensación de que las cosas están mucho más claras y puedes meterte de lleno en el worldbuilding, que es una pasada.
I really loved this book, the only problem is it was too short
Binti has begun her studies, but the slaughter on the Third Fish haunts her. She thinks that perhaps visiting home will bring her mind and soul some rest, and she embarks upon a quest for answers about her heritage and her unique gifts.
