This is my third Monsters & Muses book, and I haven't read a single one in order. Although they're perfectly fine to read as standalones, I can definitely see why you might want to read them in order...there is definitely cross-pollination of characters, and in reading this book my brain was really struggling to remember the finer details of prior books that were referenced/had impacts on the plot in this one. Anyway, as for the actual story:
I liked Cash and Ariana, but there's just a little something missing from both of them/their joint story. It's a little hard to put into words, but it feels like even at the end of the book, they still aren't being honest with each other. Ariana (I think, unless I missed a sentence) still doesn't know Cash has a tracking device in her, but she hasn't told him a few key details about her activities either. There's also a few plot lines that were wrapped up just a bit too neatly in the final 10% of the book, that really probably deserved a little bit more explanation. That actually is a bit of a trend throughout the rest of the book as well, and while it gives the reader a little leeway to create their own story, I would have liked some of it spelled out. WAS Cash a virgin? Didn't he ever discuss that with Ariana?
As for the actual spice: probably 3.5/5 stars. A lot of it is public, so if that's your thing, you'll be thrilled. It gets a little repetitive, and I'm sad that we didn't get to explore Cash getting off on being slapped a little further (only because I'm a sucker for a plot twist and some time for the FMC to shine in a more dominate position, a rarity in a lot of spicy novels). We get dual POVs for all the spice scenes, which is great.
I like Sav R. Miller's books. They're quick and easy to read, there's always a fun twist or two, and she writes men who are OBSESSED and I love that. Certainly good intro novels for your friends who are maybe ready to take a step into darker spice then what is usually found in the cartoon cover books.

“Little Nightmare… you’re being very bad.”
Gahhhhhh. I’ve never wanted someone to call me little nightmare until I read this book.
Sav R Miller has just done it again. I have loved every book in this series and Souls and Sorrows just kept the fire going.
Ariana is the epitome of trauma. She’s experienced so much more of it in her life than any human ever should or could possibly handle.
Cash (Cassius) is just not looking for anything. His nickname eludes to his incessant need for power and by power, we mean money. But Ariana comes in to his life like the tornado she is and sets them up to an adventure of their own.
This is a fake marriage, marriage of convenience, mafia, kind of enemies to lovers ish?, trauma telling whirlwind of a story and I think it’s one of my favorites in this series. But I tend to say that about them all, ahh!
Thank you, Sav R Miller for the opportunity to read this eARC.

This book made me feel things. Good, bad, sad, happy it made me go over my own trauma and my reactions to said events. Not that I ever offed anyone or suffered how Ariana had. I did however live with the physical and emotional abuse from my mother. What's even more crazy is said mother reached out the day I started Soul's and Sorrows for the first time in 4 years. Not sure what going on in the cosmos but clearly it knew I need this book. This was cathartic and inspiring. I loved the way that Cash adores Ariana and even though he speaks of only wanting to take the power his father could never have. The way he loves her from the word go had my little black heart melting into a puddle. I wish the ending hadn't come so fast. I feel like Ariana deserved a bit more with how uncertain she was feeling. I wanted to see a few more events of Cash showing her how to heal. How she is safe with him and how he isn't there to use his love as way to get something or anything from her. To build her up. All around 5/5

I wasn't sure how to feel about Cash getting his own book. He was very abrasive in the Oaths & Omissions book about Jonas and Lenny. Cash is one of Lenny's brothers and he is a lawyer, married to his work. Ariana is Elena Ricci's middle sister that we hear from quite a bit throughout Lenny and Jonas' story.
Ariana turns out to be an extremely stubborn and strong female character. She is a Ricci sister trying to do what is best for her after Elena reported her father and had him put in prison for all the mafia business. Cash goes to an auction with a buddy (because he is looking in to Mafia business). He sees Ariana on stage and spends A LOT of money to buy her because she is basically being shamed on the stage. Even though Ariana did that to herself, not really knowing what was going to happen, but doing it for a rival family. Unbeknownst to either of the main characters, this purchase is for a marriage. Not just sexual pleasure. Ariana's story is a sad one for sure, her mother is gross and jealous of her daughters and does things to Ariana because she is pretty to make her feel worthless and used. I appreciated the not going into complete detail about it because that is how I feel that I would discuss and talk about something like that happening to me, you know? It felt more of like a real way someone discusses it in a normal setting. Sav told it just right so that you would feel everything that Ariana was feeling for her past trauma. She is looking for revenge on her ex and something that would make her feel whole.
Cash was a strong character that I absolutely HATED at the beginning of this book, I didn't even really like him in Lenny and Jonas' story. However, throughout the book and the situation with Ariana he DEFINITELY grew on me. You see his character develop feelings which he didn't know that he could have and find out that Ariana is the first for him. The strange ring that he buys her though, I still can't quite figure that out. His character development and watching him grow through this forced relationship with Ariana is pretty amazing.
this is the final book for now in this series and I believe that it capped out for me at number 1 favorite in the entire series.
As previously stated Sav's writing is fluid and easy to read. It's more like listening to someone tell me a story in real life than anything else.
I loved it 10/10 would recommend

I like this book and the “plot twist” at the end, but I felt like it was slightly lacking in areas… but I’d read it again!
I have really adored most of the monster and muses books. But this book was not it for me. I really don't like saying bad things about books. Cause not every book is for every person. But I just feel like the storylines in this series have just gotten progressively, not worse, but just less.
This book barely has a plot. We follow Elena's sister Ariana, who has spent her entire life suffering from abuse from her mother, and no attention or affection from her father. She is broken, and suffering. Enter Cash, who has seen her from afar for years and finally has a brief interaction with her in passing. Then, cue forced/fake marriage (I wouldn't necessarily call it fake marriage as Ariana had no idea of it beforehand). The rest of the plot is just confusing. You've got her family business which is up in the air. You've got Cash's past which is never fully talked about or detailed. And then you have these two supposed broken people forced into marriage. I was waiting for them to fall in love, to experience each other and have these interactions that showed that. Instead I feel like we only got like anger and sex. Where is the tension and the effort. We got few mentions here and there. But like. I never really understood why they fell for each other when their interactions were so brief and small.
I also felt hardly any connection to the characters themselves. Ariana definitely had serious trauma. But there was like no growth. We didn't see her divulge anything to Cash, only mentions that they talked in the end. How did she grow and heal? It definitely couldn't have happened just by what happened in the end of the book. She needed more. And cash. Where was his growth and development? He literally never changed. And had all this supposed trauma from his past but we never got any actual details. I was just so confused the entire book on like what was happening and why.
But Sav knows how to write spice and for me that's all this book was. Dark romance spice.

Oh man I think cash beat out kal for my favorite Sav r Miller MMC. The spice was so damn good & the tension!!
This one had some of my favs tropes- forced marriage, “don’t talk about my wife like that”, strong fmc, possessive, breeding. Ugh so good.
I freaking love how this world is so connected. If you’ve read all the other books in this series.. you’ll know what I mean.
4.5 ⭐️ 3.5

i kept confusing Alistar’s story line with Cash’s. The lonely older brother who acted as the figure head once their father was out of the picture. but i enjoyed the parallels to Eros and his wife, it was a nice story line.
Another installment from the Monsters and Muses series that I absolutely could not put down. Cash is the kind of man that lives to work. He has always wanted to prove that he can make his own way and is a very type A person. Then Ariana comes crashing into his life. From the moment he sees her he knows his world will never be the same. She is misunderstood and has spent a majority of her life living in her older sister’s shadow. She does not find it believable for other people to care about her and she is the only person that that will look after her. While battling through her own demons along with trying to determine what needs to be done with her family’s mafia business, is it possible she finally found a man that is here to protect her instead of use her?
This book covers very dark themes. Please make sure to check the trigger warnings if you have any triggers!

2.5 stars. I was kinda bored. Honestly this series has been so hit or miss with me. The Wolfe Brothers books were fucking amazing I loved them. Vipers and Virtuosos was also good but this book and the first book were not good.
