What a phenomenal read. I cried 6 times. Laughed too. I related to so much of what she shared. I felt part of her story. Cannot wait to read this again.

"The Most Beautiful Thing I've Seen" by Lisa Gungor puts words to much of the past five years for me. Reading her slow burn of changing belief, the different life turns when her perspective changed had tears streaming down my face. I'm only halfway through and I can't recommend it this stunning memoir enough!

I wanted to like this book so much more than I did. I appreciated her transparency but I found her hard to like. As a huge “Gungor” fan I almost wish I hadn’t read it. I don’t know why, she just came off the wrong way to me. Would be curious if anyone else felt the same??

A poetic story of finding love and beauty in the world, herself, her daughters, and humans in general.

I really enjoyed this book. Lisa and her husband have had a very interesting faith journey and while I don’t share all of the same thoughts I really loved her vulnerability in sharing her experiences. Hearing people’s journey is always interesting to me. I’m excited this author is coming to our favorite book store this weekend and I can’t wait to learn more about her!

I recommend this book if you enjoy memoirs and are open minded to those who view the world in different lights. If you are hoping for her life and thoughts to be wrapped up with the same bow as yours then you probably want to skip it.

Favorite read of the year thus far. If you grew up in the church you will resonate with Lisa’s story. Or if you live in America or are a parent or like music (it’s all there). After hearing the “news” about gungor’s morphing faith a few years back it was beautiful to hear about their the journey first hand. After reading it I’m faced with freeing thoughts and questions (a mark of a good book).

Fluffy writing. Confusing chronology. Not well-crafted.

I have long followed the band Gungor, loved their songs, and appreciated their journey of deconstructing and exploring faith. This book from Lisa Gungor tells the story beautifully— her voice is a lovely one and her journey relatable and real. There were times the stories felt scattered and the thread hard to follow, and I honestly wanted to hear so much more about her unraveling and rebuilding, but I read this in one sitting all the same. If you’re wondering where you fit in the faith world, if you’ve had a life event radically alter everything about who you are, if you just love the band Gungor, and if you love stories of family and humanity and belief, grab this one! (Comes out June 26!)
