Submersos. Aqui, podíamos satisfazer a nossa obsessão coletiva.

Describing the book in one sentence: This was the perfect distraction.
I loved the vibe, I loved the balance between deepness and casualty, I LOVED the writing.

Normally I‘m a sucker for poetic references, but I would rather had a short warning on how Shakespeare-enthusiastic this book is before picking it up, in order to prepare myself a bit. Even having read some of his works in school (which feels like a lifetime ago) I still felt like I didn’t get everything  and I found myself skimming the play scenes and quotes instead of enjoying them because they were mostly completely out of context. As well I‘d like to have a bit more depth in the plot and more madness in the characters, more emotions or thoughts or inner monologues. This way I t was difficult for me to get emotionally attached to anyone and the plot twists and revelations didn’t surprise me much.

But I definitely see myself re-reading this at some point in time - after a proper prior research - completely indulging in the Shakespeare hommage 🌝

My first book of the year and it was a five star read! Technically I read half of it last year so I both finished and started the year off well.

This was so good. It’s really well written, the characters felt so real and it really stuck with me so that I’d find myself thinking about it days after finishing.

Recommend. I’m really getting into this ‘dark academia’ style genre.
