Belfort is an amoral, dishonest, piece of shit.

I really want to give it 3.5. The business parts were much better than the addiction parts. I liked the voice- like this asshole was favoring you with telling his story over a Scotch. But, the last 100 pages or so dragged. Plus, the movie did a much defter job of examining the themes of excess and how to walk the fine line between ambition and scumbag.

Meh...rich jerk brags/complains about being a rich jerk. Lots of stock jargon and half-hearted explanations for mistakes.

According to my Kindle, I made it a third of the way into the book, and I didn't feel like wasting any more time on it. Most of the book is Belfort swinging between being shocked and admiring his depravity. You can tell because it's difficult for him to go more than five sentences without putting in an exclamation point.

The general idea of the book becomes apparent quickly, and that's all you get because there's no plot. It's like being stuck at a bar with a rich prick who can't stop regaling you with the crazy shit he did last weekend, bro.

This could easily be one of the cases where the movie is better than the book. I'd be shocked if it wasn't.

You know, at a little over 500 pages, I was very pleasantly surprised at how well Belfort was able to capture my attention and interest. What can I say? I guess I'm a sucker for a story filled with debauchery on a level that can only rival Motley Crue's a la "The Dirt."

If you've seen the movie, I can tell you that the first half of the book reads almost exactly like what was on the screen. During the second half, there are some changes and, if it were possible, a lot more depravity.

Truth be told, at the end of it all, I'm not even sure if I like Jordan Belfort or not. Self-deprecating in one sentence and then a braggart in the next, he strikes an intriguing figure, if not altogether a likable one. I'd recommend this book to any fans of drug and sex-filled memoirs that make you wonder how their author is still alive.

Holy hell...what an insane story! A thoroughly entertaining read from start to finish!

Exact same thing as the movie. Jordan seems like the ultimate narcissist. Skimmed through second half of book.
