I’m really looking forward to talking about this in book club tomorrow. I found so much of the writing to be utterly delightful. He uses language so playfully that it makes even the really dark and challenging parts more palatable. I laughed out loud so many times during my reading and listening!!

All Dickens is wordy, since he got paid that way. And my grandpa read my the first chapter maybe five times, so that's the part I remember most. But all in all, a good solid tale.

I struggled to get used to Dickens' distinct, poetic writing style and labored through the first half of this book, but once I adjusted, I fell in love with everything about it: his writing, the characters, the story, and its message. I found myself re-reading so many passages over the last hundred or so pages simply because they were so beautifully written.
