Another fun book to escape into! Good read. Was engaging with all it's intricate details.

This book has everything a Jack Reacher fan wants out of a Reacher story. It has suspence and mystery all the way through to the end so it is difficult to put down. Clever plot.

Another good Reacher story by Lee Child. It opens with a man going into a parking station, setting up and shooting five people before walking away. Then we watch the building of the police case and the arrest of the shooter on a plethora of evidence. But then the arrested man tells his lawyer "They've got the wrong man. Get Jack Reacher." Next thing you know, he is attacked in jail and left with brain damage, so he can't tell anyone a thing about what did or didn't happen.

Reacher arrives but is not of use until someone decides that he shouldn't be there. Of course he doesn't respond well to bullying so he starts working on helping the team.

I enjoy the combination of action, detective work, legal arcana as well as the historical research that obviously has gone into this book. The pace is varied which suits the story and me. I like the changes of pace. Child has no problem not seeing war, its consequences and practitioners through rosy glasses while not demonising them either. I find this refreshing. Jack is the classic wondering hero; travelling from somewhere (the military) to somewhere (we don't know yet) and have adventures on the way. He is both deeply alone and able to have great relationships with others in a very interesting way. He is also free of cultural behavioural requirements in a way that speaks strongly to modern Western people, although he sticks to the norms in most ways except permanency of location.

Well worth reading and a good start in the series although you might want to start at the beginning and work your way through.

So much better than the movie.

A fast-paced thriller. When a shocking act of violence leads to what appears to be an open-and-shut case, Jack Reacher arrives to dig deeper. As he unravels the truth, the investigation twists through layers of deception, hidden motives, and dangerous confrontations.

Reacher’s sharp intellect and no-nonsense approach make him a force to be reckoned with, and Lee Child’s tight prose keeps the tension high. The urban setting adds to the grit and intensity, making every move feel urgent.

Reacher shows up and does Reacher things.
