Another classic Reacher novel

Love this series. jack Reacher is such a cool hero: a tough, strong man of honor. He doesn't hesitate to do the "wrong" thing if it serves the "right" end. Lots of suspense and action.

Action packed thriller - definitely one of the books in the Reacher series. A couple of good twists - I didn't quite see the one coming (or at least the reason behind it) I do wish some of the characters had been fleshed out a littler more. And I wish Child would try to find another way to say "Reacher said nothing".

Another gripping read!

Decent book, not my fav reacher book though.

Was hoping to like this more than I did. Rarely is this the case, but I believe it's true here: the movie was better.

This is a good one in the series. The set up is well handled and Reacher gets to showcase some of his detective skills here. The usual suspension of disbelief is required, the violence is more focussed than some of them and it has a satisfying (if a little too pat) conclusion. I enjoyed it a lot but for me it pales in comparison to Christopher McQuarrie's excellent film.

Controversial opinion perhaps but for me, my first exposure to Reacher was through the film (well, I had read [b:Killing Floor|78129|Killing Floor (Jack Reacher, #1)|Lee Child|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1399313258s/78129.jpg|4511038] years back and forgotten it) and despite Child's repeated reminder about his size, I just cannot visualise him as a hulking giant. The film gets a lot of stick for the casting of Tom Cruise but frankly I think Cruise does an excellent job of bringing the core of the character to life (if not the sheer size). Plus McQuarrie's excellent screenplay streamlines the extraneous material and less realistic elements of Child's sensationalist style.

I can understand why long time Reacher fans may not have liked it but I still think it's a great movie. Anyway, the book is still one of the better ones in the series and worth picking up.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book and it was well above average by normal standards but I hold Lee Child/Jack Reacher to a higher standard and this book just wasn't as exciting as some of the others which leads me to the main point of this review: I am completely and utterly baffled as to why out of all the Jack Reacher books already published, Hollywood decided to turn this one into a film.

There are so many more exciting Jack Reacher books they could have chosen. At the end of the day this book is just Reacher Vs the Russian mob and corrupt law enforcement. Nothing very original in that.

"Reacher said nothing"

Another great Jack Reacher book. You really should be reading this series of books.
