I really liked this novel. I watched the movie first and fell in love with Jack Reacher. Then I read the first novel by Lee Child and I fell in love again. I have to say I liked the novel better than the movie, but they're both great. The book just has so much more detail. It does make me want to watch the movie again to spot the differences again.

This was actually my least favorite of the series. It just started off way to slow for me. The second half of the book was really good and had the suspense that you normally get from a Jack Reacher book. This is the book that the movie was made after so I'm excited to watch that now.

I suspect I'm comparing it to the movie, which was passable, and ranking it up because it was better than the film.

*shrugs*

I can live with that.

Great Reacher novel. I hear that Tom Cruise is trying to get the part in the movie. He would completely suck as Reacher. Hope it doesn't happen.

3.5 rounded up to 4. Quick, taut read with a compelling start and strong mystery to follow.

I was looking forward to reading this series for a while, but I couldn’t find the first. Finally, I started with the 9th book. Probably I would better understand the main character If I started with the first book. However, I already liked this book more than I expected. I read this in less than two days, not a record for me, but obviously loved it so. I’m going to read more about my new favorite ex-military police. Engaging and marvelous characters (especially Reacher). An unexpected and challenging story which a strong beginning that continued to the end, hard to put down. Highly recommended!

A former military sniper shoots 5 people at random....or does he? One Shot is an exciting entry in the Jack Reacher series, and it was the first book of the series that got adapted.

This isn't a Reacher book that is reliant on a big twist or some major reveal from his past. This is just a straight forward investigation with a large cast of bad guys.

I read this one quickly, in just over two days. The basic writing style allows for that, though this is one that could have definitely been edited down. Child has this knack to write 4 or 4 sentences that could easily be condensed down to one.

Other than that, I really enjoyed my reread of this one, and despite it being a Tom Cruise adaption, the movie was done pretty well too.
