This was so incredibly similar to HP. I could go on forever. Hoping it starts to do its own thing in the following novels rather than just grabbing ideas from a well-known and beloved series.
One Goodreads reviewer said it perfectly;
“Essentially, this book reads like a mash-up of Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia , and X-Men without capturing the greatness of any of those stories.”
Other than this, the story telling and characters are very inconsistent. Alex’s tone of the new world she’s living in constantly changes. One page it’ll be “oh, well, weird things just happen here” and the next page it’ll be “what is happening, things like that CAN’T happen! It’s not possible!” As if she didn’t just brush over weird things happening in the previous page.
This story essentially got a rating this high because I’ve heard many readers express that the series gets better from here and I’m hopeful. Also I read this along with a book box and opening little packages as I read through really improved my mood and experience while reading this book.

Interesting and easy to listen to. The start was gripping but by the end it fell flat as it was almost the samething in waves. Has HP virbes but starting at an older age group.
Arkanae is the debut novel of Lynette Noni and focuses on a girl called Alexandra/Alex Jennings, our main character. Alex shows up at her new school, only to fall into another realm (Medora) and ends up starting at a school known as Arkanae. Of course its a magical school.
I enjoyed reading about almost all the characters, some were abit psycho (Finn) and I definitely don't want to do a class run by Finn. I loved Karter, I found him really cool and D.C is great too.
I love the teasing that goes on between Jordan, Bear and Alex. Kaiden is ok, I guess, I don't get why people love him so much. It's truly a magical world.
Comment at a later date:
After reading some of her other books, I believe that this series is her best, even if I haven't finished it yet.
The author actually is Australian like me and we live in the same state!

I absolutely LOVE this book! Time to add another 3 boys to my ever-growing fictional boyfriend list. This book had action, mystery, adventure, fantasy etc and I could not stop reading, not without knowing what was going to happen next. I'm so glad I broke my "No buying books" rule for this book. Best choice I have made this year.
This was fun but I wasn't super invested in the story. I think I would have enjoyed this a lot more when I was a little younger because it was a little too juvenile for my taste, but I think I will continue with the series as I hear it gets a lot better!
