I’ve read all his books, but this just didn’t follow his trend. I thought it was a slow start and a quick few chapters of excitement. The ending was a bit lackluster and didn’t bring tears like many of his others.

Summary: Trevor Benson returns to his grandfather's house after his passing with a complex mystery-his grandfather's last words. Enlisting the local sheriff to help him solve the riddle he also falls in love with a woman he's pretty sure is already spoken for. Meanwhile, Callie, a quiet, lonely teenage girl down the road presents her own mystery. Where did she come from, where's her family, and what's her connection with his grandfather?
Review: Another endearing Nicholas Sparks romance. I would say this one is about average for my personal preference in Sparks's writing. I've enjoyed some other books of his quite a bit more, but I did still enjoy this one and thought it was better than some of his earliest writing.
Recommended for fans of: The Lucky One, Safe Haven
If you loved this book then you should try.... The Wish, The Last Promise

The writing style is so welcoming and makes you keep on reading. It's well written, feels like the characters really go through the emotions described. Did it slightly go where you'd expect? Maybe a little but in a good way. It felt like a story that could happen next door.

Typical Nicholas Sparks - you will cry. The story unfolded slowly, then as the pieces started to form towards the end I just had to finish the story to resolve the quandary and bring together the three separate events. In the real world there are components of love that just do not have the timing right, and this happens more than we want to accept. This was an enjoyable and humanistic read. Very satisfying.

I've always loved Nicholas Sparks books but this one felt very formulaic. I plodded through it but I didn't particularly enjoy it.
