Every time I think I’ve found my favorite Pippa Grant hero she writes a new book. The Grumpy Player Next Door is the latest in Pippa Grant’s Copper Valley Fireballs series. Tillie Jean and Max Cole star in this book and man did I love them. I’m a sucker for the grumpy/ sunshine trope and Pippa knocked it out of the park on this one. Max and Tillie Jean’s story was the perfect mix of humor, angst, and thought provoking. The prank wars, the townspeople, the Cooper Rock! I want to say so much more but I don’t know how without spoiling anything but please read this one as soon as possible. You won’t regret it!

Tillie Jean and Max. A story 4 years in the making. I loved every moment of their story. Pippa has this way of just bringing you into the fold with her characters. This story has all those fun, LOL Pippa elements and of course, mascots and pranks too! My only complaint is that it's over snd now I have to wait to visit Shipwreck and the Fireballs again.

Pippa Grant has done it again. Just when I think she couldn't possibly top her last book (I mean, it was Tyler and Muffy), she does it. The opening chapter had me rolling with laughter. Tillie Jean is the perfect baby sister, who gives as good as she gets from her brothers. Max Cole is the lovable grumpy bear you just want to cuddle. I always find something of myself in Pippa's heroines and that was definitely the case with TJ. If you love the Fireballs and all the characters related to them, you aren't going to want to miss this one.

Hysterical and Spicy

We're back in the town of Shipwreck, Virginia in this book and it feels like I've come home. Hello crazy goats chilling on the table. Hello salty parrot screeching through the window. Hello donut shop and pirate, Pop. I've missed you all.

Tillie Jean has been flirting with Max for 4 years. Max doesn't like it. Max plays baseball with Tillie Jean's brother, Cooper, and as such she's off limits. But, there was this one incident that happened when they first met and neither one can get it out of their heads...but it's made Max a grouchy bear and Tillie the woman with a stick. Poke!

Winter break arrives and Max ends up renting the house next to Tillie back in Shipwreck which leads to all sorts of hilarious encounters. Max hates Tillie Jean's flirtatious banter and wacky antics, but the reasons behind his feelings are complicated. And Tillie just wants to be annoying to both Max and her brother...or does she? Max is hot and underneath his grouchy exterior is a man to admire, a man to impress.

It's a book filled with ideas about deciding what's important in life. Just because you're amazing at something specific doesn't mean you should pursue it as a career nor should your "thing" be the only focus in your life. Life is better when we figure things out for ourselves and have someone to share our tragedies and triumphs with. It's also better when we can avoid glitter bombs, because that shit gets everywhere.

This is my last Pippaverse book (until she releases a new one), and I'm going to miss all the little people I've been reading about for the last couple of weeks. My binge fest has been hysterical. If you've not read Pippa before, I hope my reviews will inspire you to give her a try. Her sense of humor is ridiculous and the spice factor is

Funny and cute

This was a funny story. I loved the sibling rivalry. I understood the mental health issues and OMG died laughing over the pranks. Ima sad this is the last book because I need to know what happens to Cooper. This was a funny series and I might need a Crusty Nut tee shirt

I love Pippa. I have never laughed while reading the way I do at her books. I actually had my head in a series so it took me a bit to get to this book. It was totally worth the wait until I could appreciate it. I didn’t know what to expect from Tille Jean and Max, but seriously these were the characters I didn’t know I needed to read about.

I love going to Shipwreck and visiting old friends, and that’s what it feels like when you read a Pippa Grant book. It feels like you are spending time with your friends, you laugh with them, cry with them, and just keep falling in love with them.

Pippa Grant gives us a story with everything, she is a 1-click author for me, with a guarantee of a good time no matter what.

We have met Tillie Jean before and loved her sass, in this story we get to see even more of her layers. We get to see her love for her family, friends and her town. We also get to see her journey with Max a pitcher who doesn’t know his own worth. The question is can TJ help Max see what we all see?

This is really a no brainer, if you want to read a solid story with laughter, heat and heart then stop what you are doing and read this book. It’s Pippa Grant doing what she does best!

I laughed and Secondhand embarrassment was definitely felt

It was a funny book, I’m not gonna lie. I love Tillie Jean and how she looks at life. I love how the author wrote about the town and how connected they all where. I even liked the gosh blessed goats (you gotta read to understand) but man it felt like the beginning dragged on and the. All the sudden sped up and end felt so hurried and unfinished. I read this without reading the first 2 books and it seemed ok, I didn’t need a lot of backstory to be able to read it and what I did need to know the author made a good effort to put it in the book. I wanted more and yet the next book didn’t have it. It was an ok book but not one I need to buy for my library.

Trouble Jean

Tillie Jean is the star of this book! She is fabulous and has the reader yearning for her HEA from the start. Max is also easy to love, but TJ steals the show for sure! #glitterbomb

This was a slow burn story that really focused on all kinds of relationships. The connection, or lack there of, with family and friends is a major theme. It also discusses heavier topics like anxiety and personal demons that can change everyday life. Mental health is an important storyline!

Another home run, 5 star read from Pippa Grant!
