It's basically a cute story that gives you warm and fuzzy feeling like most teenlit do.
However, Rainbow Rowell is trying too hard on picturing a hard life without actually going there. She just mentioned the bully and abuse but it's only on the surface.
I don't know... I'm trying to like this. And I actually kinda do. But some things are off. Still, it's a nice teenlit romance.

I didn’t realize my copy was signed. It’s been sitting on my shelf for… a while. I’ve read a few other books from this author, and she has yet to impress me. The writing style doesn’t hit any of my spots. I will say, this is probably the best book I’ve read from this author… but with that being said, I had issues. Eleanor is a new girl at school, and she’s described as “big” without much follow up. The commitment to a plus size main character feels wishy washy. The male main character has a Korean mom who speak in pidgin, which made me cringe. There are two minor black characters in the book who speak in Ebonics. This author is a white lady who is poorly dancing around racial issues without enough knowledge to strike any meaningful chords. The ending felt lazy, like she didn’t know what to do with it. Some loose ends didn’t get tied up. I think teenage Naomi would have enjoyed this book slightly more than adult Naomi did. It really captures the all consuming idiocy of a teenage first love. I’m making it sound worse than it was. I didn’t hate reading it; there were just a lot of issues that made me pull back.
