Obsessed

I received an ARC and was sooo excited.

I am a gal who loves grumpy characters that are completely drawn into a happy orbit. Maybe it stems from my Gilmore Girls growing up???

Shucked takes place in Friendship Rhode Island - now being an Ocean State resident almost my entire life I was already swooning to hear little Rhody. The story of the whole coastal town taking care of their own during Shucked, truly feels like a RI town to me. I throughly enjoyed seeing that small town feel of a bay town and the characters situation - Beck “is this a skit?” Beck, I agree - some times you meet people around here and go - they can’t be real!

The relationship between Beck and Sunny was a lot of fun to read along with. Her spitfire strong woman traits that always standup for themselves event to a grouch in a three piece suit! Wish I was that sharp witted when I was younger.

I gave the book four stars bc I didn’t see closure for a background town story line that I needed closure for. I assume this was left open because this book is listed as Lowe brothers #1 - so fingers crossed for a book #2 to get my closure and visit Friendship RI again.

Spicy rating

Shucked is the best kind of enemies-to-lovers! The banter, the tension, the steam! Did I mention THE BANTER?!? Top. Notch! The way Sunny and Beckett fall for each other is nothing short of perfect.

I love how much happiness Sunny brings to those around her. She's an old soul with so much kindness. Beckett has always been a fixer, so much so that he thinks that's all he's good for. With his family in shambles, it's his job to set things to rights. The last thing he expects is Sunny. These two bicker back and forth and it is everything! It starts out as fighting but slowly turns to a more sexy banter. Beckett grows so much in this story. Sunny helps him to self reflect and figure out what he really wants for his life. Beckett sees Sunny in all her badassery, her quirks, and loves her because of them.

I love these two so freaking much! Honestly I loved all the characters in this book! There's so much depth and heart and elements you might not see coming. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for more!

Hoopla audio. Good narrators! Pretty good story. A little frustrating by how many mishaps happen at the naked provision restaurant. But not a terrible amount of drama. Decently steamy.  🌶️🌶️🌶️

I loved going back to Friendship, RI after reading In a Jam. This one was slow to get into & it was also a slow burn between the MCs.

Beckett is your typical grumpy finance guy. He left his hometown behind & never really wanted to look back…until the 💩 hit the fan with his family’s Oyster bar and he’s the only brother who can save it.

Sunny is the epitome of her name. She is a very sunshiny girl who has chosen to move back home and pursue her dream of opening a vegan cafe with some of her best friends. It just happens to be next door to the town’s Oyster bar that’s owned by& currently being run by her brother’s best friend…who just happens to be her biggest childhood tormentor, besides her brother himself.

The insults and general Friendship chaos that’s thrown back and forth between these two makes for some interesting reading. They will keep you on your toes for sure!

There are a lot of side characters in this book, and if I’m honest I’m still not completely sure if they have their own books that I just haven’t read yet…but at this point I don’t think so. Either way I can’t wait for my adventure’s in Friendship and I hope we get an update on Decker’s book soon!

I wanted to love this. There’s a lot to love here. The characters are funny, the banter, that might be it…
The book has no business being as long as it is. It could have easily been 100 pages shorter. Especially since nothing in the H’s story is resolved and the last few pages don’t even wrap up the H and h’s story and it just sets up the next book.
Honestly, to set up a cliffhanger of the brothers estranged wife coming back into town was not the bomb drop the author thought it was. All we know about the estranged wife is she’s probably very nice. It was disappointing to just immediately move on to the next couple when it didn’t feel finished with this one.
