I liked this book better than the first one. The characters are more interesting and the story has some unexpected twists. I am curious about the conclusion.

So this one had a slow start for me like the previous book did, but after it picked up speed I was pleasantly enraptured by the to dos of the characters. Kudos to Marcus for stepping up and being a semi major player now, his humour showed, his brain was working, and he wasn't as self involved or whiney to me as I felt he was in the first book, I loved him this time around.
Kira should of spent a bit more time listening to Heron and for Samm following her so blindly and obviously crushing on the girl, she is still oblivious. I like how its all coming together and how Nandita's role is finally being told, I can only hope in the next book Kira finds her dad, or finds out what happened to him, I was biting my nails by the end anxious to see what was going to happen, I liked the intro of Calix and Phan I can see them being a part of the 'group' but was floored by the Afa sitch..I mean, what the......hes there for no reason other than to be carrying the little computer gadget? and then for that to just happen? hmm. over all I really enjoyed this book and I will be impatiently waiting for the next one. and PS, I love that Kira and Samm have a lil something going on, but its not the focus of the book. so when they hint on it, or something happens its that much more satisfying to read.

Fragments did not disappoint. It did feel a bit disjointed at times with the numerous plot lines and PoV characters but I still enjoy the series and am looking forward to the conclusion next year.

A bit too long, but a good well-balanced sequel to the fantastic Partials. Great storyline and character development

I just couldn’t do it. There are too many elements that made this book painful to read, and here are only a few outlined:

How did Kira know the difference in bomb/explosive schematics? What experience does she have under her belt that she would known where and what kind of bomb caused the explosions of Afa’s radio station? It’s just SO CONVENIENT that she has this knowledge, especially given that the only formal training she had was in the hospital/medical field when they went on raids. It’s this kind of storytelling that make this series lose stars—the little details not adding up and not making logical sense. Simply, it makes Kira unbelievable.

And later, when she’s speaking with Afa about his IT experience, she actually admits it’s out of her area of expertise. WHAT’S THIS?! Our MC finally not knowing how to do something??

There’s a line when Marcus is talking to the senators and he feels inadequate—saying he’s not a public speaker and whatever, but then he says to himself, “I’m not Kira.” This made me so sad for him. We as an audience know Kira is so overly capable its almost unbelievable, we don’t need Marcus feeling sorry for himself too. Yes, you can have doubts, but don’t go comparing yourself to this unrealistically capable girl who left you. It’s just sad.

Although there are a few things that redeem this book, such as the representation of mental illness/trauma, it simply is not enough the keep me reading this train wreck of a series.

I loved Partials, so I was really looking forward to reading this. Unfortunately, I didn't like this anywhere near as much as the first book. The was largely due to pacing—it felt awkward and right when I felt like things hit their stride (the end of the road trip), it ended. Also, it felt like a lot more time was spent with people other than Kira and Samm than in Partials. While I can recognize the necessity of this, given the interconnected plots and Samm/Kira being elsewhere for most of the book, it simply wasn't all that engaging a reading experience (it also didn't help that I’m not all that fond of Marcus).

The simplest way I can sum up my feelings about this book is the following: it wasn’t my favorite reading experience, but I still found things interesting, cared about the characters, and will be reading the sequel. Also, the ending was good/set up some really interesting things.

Amazing story. Love the action. Hate Marcus and Kira being apart but loved Kira and Samm. Amazing story. Love it.

Amazing, can't wait to read the final in the trilogy! Is this going to turn out to be a love triangle too? Is Samm going to die? So many questions. I hope they will be answered in Ruins!
