This was a funny, adorable, well-written romance. I loved Iris, her relationship with Gigi and the way her relationship with Cal was built. It was very well paced, without insta-love and the overall arching plot was fairly engaging. Definitely worth cuddling up with on a rainy day with a cup of tea and a muffin.

It's was such a fun book. I thought that Cal and Iris worked well together and that Gigi was very funny. Can't wait to read more.

I really enjoy all of Molly Harper's books but I particularly liked this one featuring Iris, who runs a vampire concierge service. The surprising emotion related to Iris and her sister, and the mystery surrounding events that bring her into Cal's world, make this one a truly fun and satisfying read.

Originally I was going to give this 3 stars. 2 stars because I like the book for what it was and an extra star for Buffy and Supernatural references while poking fun of Twilight. However, i had to remove 1 star for a major continuity error. Writers make mistakes but how this got past an editor, I don't know. I guess no one was paying attention.

Spoiler In Chapter 16, Iris returns home to a supposedly empty house. Upon hearing noise in the house, she fishes her phone out of her pocket. Before she can dial, the bad guy vampire slaps the phone out of her hand - "He slapped my phone out of my hand and sent it flying. The shattered pieces of black plastic rained down at our feet." Her phone is destroyed. "

Fast forward, Iris and her sister are taken to the bad guy's house. Cal is there. They are all three tied up and threatened. Iris and her sister are let loose by her sister's boyfriend, Ben. Iris tells her sister and Ben to get her purse (Still at the house and not here), then get her phone and call Ophelia using the number pre-programmed into the phone. Somehow, her phone magically is fixed, in her bag and with her so her teenage sister can call and save the day.

This error can't be explained away and is a major plot point for the resolution of the story.

Otherwise, this story is exactly what it seems. A light, funny, romantic read that is fluffy and gooey but nothing serious. This is for in between heavier reading fare.

In The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires, Iris Scanlon stumbles upon her newest vampire client, C. Calix, after he's been poisoned. Even though it goes against her rules, she allows Cal to come home with her to hide out while he tries to figure out who's behind a rash of vampire poisonings.

Molly Harper has done it again! Even though this book is told from Iris's point of view, the same humor I've come to love and expect from her Jane Jameson books is still present, as are the cast of colorful characters I'd already become familiar with.

I really enjoyed getting to know Iris better. Her role in the Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors was fairly small, so there was a lot left to learn about her. Her relationship with Gigi was always interesting. She hovered the line between sister and mother well.

Cal was also an interesting character. He was a bit off putting at times, but once I got to know more about his character, I grew to like him more. I find vampire talents to be quite interesting, and some of the ones in this book were pretty cool.

As far as the plot goes, I thought the book was really solid. The vampire poisoning were also really fascinating because the usual rules to poisoning seemed not to apply since vampires are undead and wouldn't be affected in the same way.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. Half Moon Hollow is such an interesting place, so it was fun to see the same town from the eyes of a different character and seeing a new adventure while revisiting characters I already loved.
