I can't really find words on how amazing the book is. The characters, storyline, the topic, plot and the narration in every single front it managed to astound me. Relevant then and with whats going on in the world now and always; relevant forever . Best book I've read in a while and top amongst all time. A must read..

4.8. An easy read regarding a sad Canadian history. I only deduct from a solid five stars, as I wish the story ended a different way.

Wow. I wasn't sure that I was going to enjoy this. In some ways, knowing I was reading a book about abortion, I struggled with some of the content. However, towards the end I felt that this book is actually about motherhood, female empowerment and the secrets that we are sometimes forced to keep. It's the secrets part that has me thinking more deeply. Generally, I don't think it's a good idea to keep secrets, but when your secret is that you did something illegal but not immoral, it's easier to understand the decisions the characters made.
As I reflect on this novel, I feel very happy that women in Canada have the choices that they have as a result of women and men who put their lives on the line for a woman's freedom to choose. I found this to be informative without being preachy. Because I struggled a bit at the start, I gave it a 4.5. However, the ending was definitely a five star ending for me.
Can't wait to talk to my book club about this book!

Wow. I’m stunned. I wish I could give this book 6 stars. Absolutely incredible account of all things motherhood, those who want to be mothers and would do anything to be a mother and those who do not. Please read this important book and especially read the authors notes at the end. These are true stories.

Good historical context on the fight for abortion rights in Canada. One too many “writer tricks” to keep the story going.
This book is about women trying to have babies and trying to not have babies, but mostly it’s about the choices you should have as a woman. A must-read with a box of tissues.
