Looking for Jane is about being a woman, about motherhood, and about women supporting women. The three woman's stories held my interest. A historical fiction about girls being forced to give up their babies and the horrific treatment as they were hidden away waiting to give birth. The overturning of roe vs wade is even more upsetting after reading this book.

'In Angela's experience, people regret the things they didn't do far more than the mistakes they actually made. It's inaction that causes you to lie awake into the early hours of the morning, second-guessing your own judgment. It's the what-ifs and should-haves that crouch down deep in that buried chamber of your soul.'
Looking for Jane by Heather Marshall is heart-rending and soul-stirring, to say the least. I went into this book trying to be level-headed but was crying before page 60. Being adopted myself, I've felt the turmoil of not telling one they are adopted soon enough, the secrets and lies that can be involved, and it resignated heavily with me.
The character involvement had me on the edge of my seat. The last line of chapter 28 was a pure shocker. The following chapter, Maggie's POV, answered a few questions. Yet I'm left with one question after finishing the book; What happened to Evelyn's baby and her future now.
I highly recommend this wonderful story. And be prepared to cry.

Set in Toronto! I loved learning this side of Canadian women’s history through the stories of these valiant fictional characters. A very fitting read right now.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel. I'm sad that the people who need to read this novel won't read it. I liked the characters, but it wasn't as emotional as I expected it to be.
I didn't like the identity twist at the end. There has to have been another way to tie the timelines together.
I listened to the audiobook.
