Looking For Jane

This is a great book with an often untold story!

I’m a historical fiction fan, and I really enjoyed the departure from typical war stories to something more feminist/political. The book is well-written and has a HUGE twist at the end.

Also, a fun read for Canadians since the story is mostly set in Toronto and Ottawa!

This is an exceptional debut novel. I would place it right beside The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.
The author drops you right into a story with such dynamic characters that you connect with them and are immediately enveloped in their lives.
The stories of these women are complex and difficult and heartening.
I want sequels, because I feel like these are friends I want to know. But I am also content with where the book leaves us because the possibilities are abundant.

A look back in time what needing an abortion was doing to women mentally, physically, and emotionally. Oh wait, that’s real life again.

Good story. I already knew about the Jane network so that was no surprise. The writing was pretty flat so I skimmed much of the book.

Historical fiction at its finest - and Canadian, to boot. A story about motherhood and choices and empowerment and frustration, and a dark chapter in our nation’s history. I was in Grade 5 when abortion was legalized in Canada, and while that meant very little (nothing) to me then, I have come to understand how big a deal that is, and how much women my age owe to the women - and men - who fought so hard to ensure my generation has choice and control over our own bodies. This book was outstanding.
