This was a really enjoyable and easy read but there were a lot of plot holes and a predictable big twist. I found the commentary on online dating/first dates amusing which made up for the MC being pretty annoying.

I could imagine this as one of those romcoms with a twist that Netflix releases.

I liked the multiple red herrings and the story was easy to follow making it a quick read but absolutely despised the Gen Z lingo throughout - I cannot imagine a 30 year old describing themselves as a “manic pixie dream girl”and it was actually gag worthy. Protagonist was insufferable, get off your f*cking phone you’re the maid of honour and it’s your best friends hen-do you self loathing loser.

But yeh easy to follow, suspecting multiple people throughout, a good poolside read I’d say.

I met my husband on a dating app, so suffice it to say, this was a fun time to read.

Gwen Turner is just getting out of a relationship and decides to go on a dating app called Connector to date around and get over her ex. However, all of the men she meets end up being total losers, and they start turning up dead one by one. The police think she may be the killer, but she is determined to prove her innocence and find the real killer herself.

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny and honestly reminded me of a few bad dates I went on. My favorite part of this book was actually reading about all of the bad dates. This was witty; there were a ton of entertaining one-liners and a lot of red herrings… and I mean A LOT. I had whiplash because by 80%, I must have thought to myself, “I figured it out!” multiple times. And I was wrong basically every time

We meet Gwen, a 29 year old singleton who isn’t having the best of luck in her love life. In fact her life in general isn’t going great. Split up from her long term boyfriend, sharing a flat with her best friend, running a drinks van to try and make ends meet, I’m sure it’s not where she expected to be at this age.

The story starts off with Gwen’s best friend’s hen do, I just knew then that this was going to be my type of story. There is some wicked humor throughout which makes it even more entertaining. Top that with Gwen’s recent dates starting to turn up dead, I was well and truly gripped. I loved Gwen. Yes she is a bit selfish and probably needs to grow up a bit but I had to admire her determination in finding out who the killer is regardless of her own safety. The police certainly have their work cut out with her.

Don’t Swipe Right is my first book by the author and certainly won’t be my last. Yes, it will probably put you off dating apps for life but it was dark, thrilling and lots of fun. It took me a good while to try and figure out who was behind the killings and I’ll be honest, it wasn’t much before we get to find out that I had figured it out. It didn’t spoil my enjoyment though as the journey we are taken on had me racing through the pages and left me with a smile on my face from the hugely enjoyable time I had spent reading it. Could so see this being adapted to the big screen!
