i was incentivized to read this because i like parvati as a reality tv game player and im interested in her life! but it was not my favorite style of writing or storytelling. it was only worth finishing this read because it was so short.
the explanations and through line about trauma & trauma responses felt unnecessary and like she didn’t trust the reader. i didn’t need an educational lesson, i just wanted to learn about her experiences. but i suppose i understand why she wrote it this way — because she essentially walked us through her own learning and healing process and there’s value in sharing that information.
parvati obviously made a brave choice sharing more about her personal life, and i want to honor and acknowledge that. also, i understand protecting people’s privacy. and i know this will seem like act i have an expectation she owes people more… but for a memoir, certain life areas/topics felt lacking and avoidant. very little survivor content, which i understand was because at the last minute CBS asked her to cut stuff. that’s such a bummer and obviously out of her control.

I listened to the audiobook and loved it. I love Parvati and it was really fun to hear about her life. I feel like she wrote I a way that I could really relate to her and some of her life experiences.

The arc was nice and the ending was an inspiring account of how healing helps your nervous system - I think I wanted more drama and more survivor experience but that was clearly not the intention of the memoir
wish there was more abt survivor in here but i understand that cbs cut that not parv so still 5 stars
